    Privacy laws? Why can't they say who was in the crash? does this only apply to CA? Never heard of such nonsense before.

    The article stated names are being withheld "pending notification of next of kin". Family members have a right to be properly informed of the death of a loved one rather than reading about it in the paper. I think this common courtesy is pretty much universal.

    Why is the police officer carrying a flag to honor the unnameable victim of the police department while the wreck remains behind him... Where is he going with that flag?

    It is never the cops fault. You should see what goes on when one of there motor cycles goes down. They commonly split traffic in the carpool lane and drive on the dots at above freeway speeds.
