Hired on as a Company experienced Driver. They do hire right out of school from an accredited national recognized trucking school. 3 day orientation then get assigned a truck. Or 3 day and 4 weeks out with a trainer coming in as a student.

Being hired as an experienced driver I started at .36 a mile and was put in a T660 2012 with 260,000 miles. APU equipped and in really good shape. 10 speed Eaton fuller Cummins ISX15.

During Orientation in Minnesota you'll have lunch and dinner paid on them. I was flown out on airplane. Depending where your from you will to. If it's close you'll take a bus. You'll have your own suit @ the Microtel. Orientations are small mine had 6 people. They are critical about the road test. If you aren't safe or can't shift you'll be going home. They want good safe drivers in their nice equipment they have. Come on with a physical from home if it's valid they'll accept it and you'll just need a drug screen. If you need physical it comes out of orientation pay. Can't blame them about that. You'll meet your dispatcher face to face along with the head of the reefer or dry van division and they'll ask you what you want to do for miles and will work with you as best as possible.

since getting my my own truck, had one load for 450 miles then all the rest were 800+. First load was 1,100 miles.
They don't use T/A or Petro for fuel only for OTR Maintenance. They do have fuel stops with restrictions and usually they use Pilot, Flying J, or Loves.

Everyone is very nice and wants you to succeed.

If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer to the best of my knowledge.

I'm going to make this a running log thread to give perspective of what it's like to run for J&R Schugel.

Currently picked up a load in Keenesaw, GA going to NJ. 824 miles. Stopped for the night due to snow will deliver tomorrow at some point.

Well had to shut down early last night due to white out conditions in all places I would have never thought....Henderson, NC. Got up early round 5am headed to jersey made good time. Sitting in T/A in Jersey about 40 miles away for Delivery. Called to see if I could deliver early they said NO. Shut down will wake up at 2:30 to make a delivery for 3-6am. Live unload hopefully it takes 2-3 hours so it gives time for my dispatcher to get going and send me my next load. I'll keep you posted!

Woke up for 3:45 AM. Got to delivery around 5am. Got unloaded by 7:30. Sent in paper work on the Scanner they gave to all the guys in the fleet so no stoping in to a truck stop. Scan it to Qualcomm send it in and wait.

25 minutes later was sent info for a live load in New Jersey about 45 miles away. Got loaded up 600 mile trip to Ohio. Made it just about 150 miles shy of Pittsburg and will be shutting down for the night. 2 hundred and 30 miles to go. Should make delivery on time and hopefully get another run soon after that. Drive safe!

Well I'm here early at my destination. Talked to receiving. Hate dealing with rude people but you just have to smile and kill then with kindness. They're going to take me even know I'm not due here until tomorrow. 9:37am and they're going to "lunch" I'm assuming I'll be here for a while. :biggrin_25526:

Good to hear they're keeping you moving. Scanner in the truck? I would like to see that. That is really nice feature. Keep trucking Roger!

Well I finished the load. Today has been a pretty disappointing day I should say even know I got it done. Woke up at 5:30am to start the day did my pre-trip and had a flat on the inside back driver side tandem. Got that fixed with no wait but my clock was started because of the pre-trip electronic on duty category on the Qualcomm. Lost an hour but did learn a lesson do the pre-trip first, then do it on the Qualcomm and if there is or isn't any problems take care of it before hand or just roll on down the road after 15 minutes.

made good time but my check engine light came on. Just the yellow one not the red. Immeasitly started scanning gauges to see what was going on. Temp guage wasn't high. Oil was good and pressure was good. Water temp was good fuel filter good. Then I noticed while going up a hill that the truck was still pulling up a hill at 65 but my boost guage aka as a turbo wasn't moving and staying at 0. Called it in got the load there and now am currently sitting wIting for the on call mechanic to get here to plug it in and see what the diagnostic is and code. Hopefully they can get me going but if not I had to bobtail 100 miles south to get here. With my pickup for my next load today this will put me behind schedule and 100 miles south of where I need to be.

    Ill keep updated.
