    Hello All,
I want to make a career change and am looking to go into OTR Trucking. I have a DWAI on my record 3 years ago. Am I eligible for employment with that? I see no DWI or DUI for last 5 years on applications with companies. Just want to find out before I commit to training, because I want to go to work after school.
    Thanx.

NY? Most companies see it as the same as DUI/dwi. They will see it on the mvr, and ask what it is, and what you got it for.

Just for own peace of mind do some research with potential companies. Look around, for smaller ones. Big ones won't touch you. Plus depends on timing. If by the time you go through school, get your license, and then it's been 5 years, you got a shot then.

    juicejuice64 and Chinatown Thank this.

Make some phone calls, I had a DWAI from 1981 and was told that it didn't count at all because it wasn't a DWI/DUI. Most states don't have DWAI, only DWI or DUI.

    juicejuice64 Thanks this.

Thank You... I'm gonna do that before I commit to spending money on Training. I do hope what you say is the case.
    Thanx again.

If NY told you that, don't believe them, if a truck school said that, don't believe them. If a truck company told you that, then go with them.

That's what I'm doing... Contacting trucking companies that offer training and employment, letting them know the situation and see what they say. Not looking to waste time or money to train and not get employed. Thanx Bayle for the contact info. Couldn't reply private because of not enough posts. I will do my homework.
