I am with Werner... I am finisned with training and on a dedicated account, I am happy with werner and how thi gs are going for me...
I agree with Plenz3... many drivers have gone through company sponsored school and training and were not abused and used... not all companies buy your soul with their CDL course and training...

I went througn a private school because I was fortunate enough to be able to afford to... but you gotta start somewhere and if you can afford a private school then there is company sponsored programs and as pointed ojt in an earlier post, after training and gaining some experience it doesnt matter where you got your CDL.. it is not like private schools are a kin to Havard and gives one a leg up... cause it doesnt.. after your trained and have some experience your record is what matters and it doesnt matter where or how much you did or didnt pay for your CDL.

Plenz3 is the school in Wisconsin? And if so, can I park my truck there while I go thru school? Concerned about how to get there and if I drive my own vehicle I don't want to come back and find it trashed or worse yet...gone.

The school is indeed in Wisconsin, for now. According to Plenz3, they are planning on opening a school in their Gary terminal. most of the people out here now drove up. There's space to park your car/truck while in class, and you stay at a local hotel. Just finished day one, week two. It's been great. Went from never in truck, to needing to dialing in a couple little details around town to pass my cdl test in 7 class days. You're in the truck, pre tripping, driving from mid way through day one on, with a classroom day saturday. 10 or more hours a day with safety and skills being constantly drilled into your head, but isn't overwhelming. As tiring as it is, it's actually a very good time. Good vibes all around.

    Dragonfly619 and Plenz3 Thank this.

Hi Plenz3, I applied to Roehl CDL training and was told that Roehl "can not hire from" NJ, I have no reason to doubt what I was told, but just find it a little strange. I emailed them back asking if I could be told why and still have not received a response. If you are aware of the reason, could you please let me know...thanks

Sure thing. Number one is we always try to find a safe point to park our equipment on our days off. Sadly as anyone can tell you NJ is one of the most active criminal areas for a big truck. Secondly we do have lots of freight coming OUT of jersey but not going INTO jersey. So home time would be sketchy. We may be on a hiring freeze in your general area (we don't want too many trucks and not enough freight.) You may want to try again after awhile. We do run east coast. Ill.make some calls tomorow and see what I can find bud.

Do y'all know how soon the Gary Terminal may be setting school there? May be a better bet for me, shooting for first week of May to get into a class at Roehl. But Wisconsin would be great too! Like I've said before nothing holding me back...just waiting to hit my 1 year at factory to get my vacation check and then Im outta there.
I guess now I just need to call and get signed up... Thanks everyone for your great feedback! Love this site!:biggrin_25525:

Plenz3 and Gingersquatch, What routes does Roehl run? Not interested in the East coast at all...but Western Washington, Oregon, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming down thru Texas etc... any thoughts? Just trying to figure out some areas...as I have said From Michigan Down south to the west... Gonna have any luck with that? :biggrin_25519: Im trying not to sound like an idiot on here, but since I really don't have a clue I might as well run with it... Won't know if I don't ask. Also...will I be solo after passing class or do we team"?

Roehl isn't too keen on teams. We prefer solo guys running but teams are possible if it's husband and wife. We have a western regional but durin training your gonna run everywhere. Me personally I prefer the great plains dead in the Midwest. And they are more then happy to keep me there. But national fleet runs coast to coast. No Canada unless u have a passport obviously. Where do u live and what do you want to pull? I can give u a better idea of what where your gonna run.
