Hey Drivertobroker believe I read a post by Wooly that stated he was driving for another O/O and was paying a certain amount for the use
of the tractor. -
Disclaimer: I haven't been there in over a year
Phase 1 training is teaming with a trainer for 4-6 weeks of poverty-like 400ish/week pay
Phase 2 is teaming with someone else for 3-6months (you can test out early at 3 months if you keep your record clean). Pay is .19cpm for all miles (with hazmat endorsement) with a gaurantee of at least 700.
Test out of phase 2 and your pay goes up but I don't remember the exact figure (low 20's)
Lots of miles available for those who want to run & don't mind teaming -- Teamed I ran 4500-8000/week with typical week being 5500-7000 miles. Pool of available non-smoking drivers with hazmat was slim though... Equipment was pretty new. -

Also you said typical week was 5500-7000 miles... I've never teamed before but that sounds too good to be true. Can anyone else here give some input? Recruiter told me teams average 4000-6000 miles which is not close to what you're saying. -
As for pro automatic, I still drive a manual, but my next truck will be an auto. Why does that make me a good fit for covenant. I just think in this day and age auto's have gotten pretty good and make our jobs easier. Im pro making my life easier. Pro speed limiter? When did you ever hear me say that. I have said TMC is a good company even though they limit speed. Im also pro good mpg which means not driving 70 all day, but i dont think i ever said im pro limiter. That being said, if you have employees its a good idea to limit the truck to some extent so they dont go 70 and run up your fuel bill, but thats just business, not me being pro limiter. I am def NOT pro vorad. IMO, the false positives make the system useless and i am strongly agaist the new wingman type systems that actually apply brakes.
Even so, Im not looking to change companies. Im happy as an O/O at TMC and making way more than any covenant driver. I just would never drive a truck with anyone's politics writtenont he back. Im not anti christian, I'm anto them shoving it down the thought of anyone who drives by and assuming i am if i were driving the truck. -

Average team miles when I was there were 4500/week. If you both have hazmat & are both willing to drive 10.5-11 hours within a 12-hour shift you shouldn't have a problem averaging 5500+ Once the planners & dispatchers learn they can count on you, you'll do even better.
Hazmat is crucial. Not many loads are actually placarded, but there are a number of "just-in-time" accounts that require hazmat drivers just because 1 in 10 loads are hazmat and they don't know if it'll be placarded until the truck is being loaded. If one driver is hazmat and the other isn't -- you don't get to run those loads (loads which were often coast to coast).rpad139 Thanks this.
