The very last part of your sentence is where the rub lies. Usually, where the living costs are low, so are the pay scales.

I'm glad I reed this post in time. It just confuses me even more. In December I'll be switching from O.T.R job where I make 50k x year to a local fuel delivery transport job Where I hope I can make the save. I have spoken to several local drivers and theyall recommend coastal or cox the fact being they hire with a good driving record and with out any experience which I'll probably have to do if no one else hires me. I've heard those companies have a bad reputation but ill give it my best shot for something greater. My dream company is Tesoro Corp. Any advice or comments on the 3 companies I mentioned are welcomed.

PD. If you get Paid by the load then whats the $$$ they pay per load ?

some pay hourly. Some by the load. And load pay is how far away is the drop from the tank farm. You don't get the same pay if the drop is 2 miles away or 50 miles away. And I bet the senior guy will get the further loads.

I've hauled water and fuel and oddly the fuel hauling has been harder physically even though the hoses are 3" (or even smaller using a hose reel) than the 4" water hoses. With water hauling the hoses were empty and I was able to get closer to the tanks. With fuel you have to drag the hoses up on tanks or across bad terrain (farmers, rigs, etc.) and if you are using a hose reel it is already pressured up with fuel so it gets really heavy really fast. Don't do a lot of gas stations but it is a nice change when I do. ;)
