The truck quit running four times at highway speeds. If any of you would keep trucking in it under thoae conditions then safety isnt your first priority. Thats fine. Go ahead and laugh it up. Ive never hears of a company that wouldnt fix a problem like this....until this one. And i didnt quit. They fired me.

Apparently it did make it out of a parking lot with another driver who was driving it. And their safety department refused to fix it.

I think everyone's point is you're being overly dramatic about a load shift because of a truck shutting off.

But.. but... I heard it'll flip the truck right on over! A driver at the TA told me, so it must be true! He's was driving trucks before he could even walk, in a cabover conventional with 20 sticks! He said so himself!

The problem WAS that bad. I believe shut down four times at highway speeds is a good time for the boss to make the call to fix the truck. And i got TOLD to go home and the reason stated was that "since you said you dont believe the truck is safe i am going to send you home."
Should they keep driving the trucks knowing they are shutting down at highway speeds??? I will cede all of your points about load shifting though. It was pretty violent shaking and im always concerned about anything that might affect my load...especially a 50000lb coil
And...as far as INTEGRITY goes....when a big company gives a new driver a truck it should be CLEAN and in GOOD WORKING ORDER. We hire on to these big companies and expect them to give us good working equipment....not to go down the road wrestling the steering wheel and watching your coil out the windows and waiting for the truck to shut down!Last edited by a moderator: Mar 22, 2014

No you shouldn't drive it and you did the right thing by not driving it. Saying a vehicle that shakes is going to cause a load shift is one of two things. Improper securement or being dramatic. You should be able to dynamite your brakes and not have a load shift
Bad injectors will not cause your vehicle to stop as quickly as dynamiting your brakes.
It sounds like you got screwed from the company you work for. Sucks now but its better then getting your CSA score jacked up because of their poor equipment.
Best of luck to youThe Challenger, passingthru69, Lonesome and 4 others Thank this. -
Thanks for all your thoughts. Hope i can find another job that gets me home to see my kids on weekends. This was a MAJOR bummer for me. I just wanted a safe truck..i dont even care to clean it up if its dirty... but safety is non-negotiable. God bless you all and safe trucking!
