Yes. Pass your writtens, find a truck (or rent one) to take your road test, pass the road test, you have a cdl.

Bad news is nobody will hire you unless you have either...OTR experience, OR a 160 hour class graduation certificate.

I know this guy post this years ago but i wanted to say SAIA seems like a fantastic place to work for. I worked security for them for 3 years at there Nashville HUB. I never seen a upset driver there. There regional drivers left around 11:00pm and got home around 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Stuck in traffic? No problem! They are payed by the hour. Was told %95 of there load was drop and hook. The local drivers drove in the day but i don't know much about them because i worked 3rd shift there. I start my CDL classes in 3 weeks and i would kill to get on with them. But they ask for 1 year over the road on their website. I will be looking onto them after a year.

So how is the market in North East PA? I am just 35 minutes from Scranton and about a half hour from stroudsburg. I am looking into getting my cdl-a, but would prefer not to go over the road. 3rd baby due in august and need out of the IT world badly!

I am looking for a company in the Southern California area who hires fresh graduates from Roadmaster Truckers School for either local or regional/dedicated routes (home every week, out 4-5 days a time). I know it's a shot in the dark because I start with Watkins Shepard in Montana orientation on the 28th this month. I might just have to do it, going to miss my daughter. :(

SwizZz. We have regional positions. You may not start out in one but you can let them know that you are interested and work your way into one.
