How do you signal the driver of the vehicle in front of you to let him/her know that

Don't worry about it. If you can't reach them, motor carrier enforcement will eventually convey the message to them.

 

I had a 4 wheeler frantically try to stop me one time to tell me I had left my toolbox on the doubledrop trailer I was pulling at the time.
He honked, flashed his lights, then eventually jumped in front of me and stood on the brakes.
I eased over onto the shoulder.
The man walked back from his car, 6o's, had 5 kids or so in the car, all who were watching hero grandpa tell the dumb trucker 'I've been trying to stop you for 5 miles! You left your toolbox on your trailer and it is jumping 3 feet in the air every time you hit a bump! It may cause a wreck and kill somebody, you x?!!!!'

I calmly walked over to the toolbox he was pointing to, kicked it as hard as it could, it didn't budge.
'Its bolted to the trailer, you idiot!'

He swore up and down it was jumping in the air.

Time to knock off the hooch, gramps.


I haven't run a cb in years. If you see something wrong with my truck or trailer, pull alongside of me and honk, and point. I will stop at the next safe place and check everything.

I'm not going to listen to years of garbage for the rare time a cb is slightly beneficial.

 

That's not the right attitude to have.This guy did everything in his power to get you to stop and you kept on going ignoring him,no wonder he got mad.He didn't know it was bolted to the trailer,he seen a different picture,which is understandable because he doesn't drive truck.I have had 4 wheelers signal me that something is wrong and even though I don't have a clue what they were saying,I pull over to check things out just to be on the safe side.So rather then waiting till you find a safe haven like a trk stop or rest area,pull over immediately on the shoulder if its safe to do so .So just because this guy didn't have a cb youre not going to listed to him?Thats what im getting from your last sentence.

 

I'll holler at a driver on the radio once if something is wrong. 50% of the time I don't get a response. Of the remaining 50% that do reply 90% of the time I get told to mind my own business. The remaining 10% they say thank you I'll check it out right away.

That radio has saved my behind a couple times, but seems like now days its a joke to even have one seems like most don't have theirs on or don't have one. That being said mine never gets turned off.

 

Because they're lazy and rude.They don't appreciate anything.I always thank ppl for telling me something is wrong

 

There may be companies that do NOT allow drivers to have a CB's inside of their trucks.

 

I care, I just don't have a CB.

You're probably some megawatt elitist who loves to run over 3 channels and see if you can broadcast over the horizon.
To self important to respond to a low buck radio check.

My usual signal is to pull along side, try to make eye contact and give (what I'm hoping) is the universal "check six" sign.

Two fingers to your own eyes, (look) and a thumb gesture rear ward (back)

Then work your way over to the shoulder so you can help make a fix.

I've done this for barn doors (we've all done it,) trailer flats, (can't fix it but I've helped set up triangles while the guy makes his calls,) and one "okay so it wasn't a fire, but you really need to get that exhaust leak looked at"

And I've had someone flag me down because I'd left the cap off a fuel tank. I thought it was some road rage-y soccer mom so yeah, I admit I ignored her and hoped she'd just go away. Guess who felt dumb when she finally yelled at me at a light. Can't be Mr. Supercool Trucker every day I guess.
