My answer is NO... I had them for 1 year as a company driver, I don't care about the MPG savings I thought they were beyond dangerous and I'm happy I no longer work for that company... Wet rainy roads are worse than a foot of snow...Of course the new breed of drivers are when it rains and snows my month old trainer says to pull over its safer BS... I don't like em.... period...

But you weren't able to actually compare MPG from duals to single, right?

I went from Bridgestone M720 duals that were wore out to brand new Michelin X-ONE XDA Energy SS tires and did not lose any fuel mileage which means they will get better as they wear out with the best fuel mileage in any tire is when they are wore out. With equal tread depth of the best fuel mileage drive tire in both, the SS will be around 2/10ths to 3/10ths better than the dual.

I believe I stated mpg in my earlier post---lil or no diff here cuz I had already slowed to a max of 65 basically always below 1400--so minimal fuel---But weight savings very worth while---course I do ltl and more I can load more $$$$---No wx issues at all--took lil while ta trust em in the snow--but they did ok jus had to be lil more careful---as for Wet Road these wide based michelins out perform any set of tires I ever had---& I have always Hated Michelins---Matter of fact had 3 diff new trucks hit the dealer w/Mich drives---refused final disposition until they took em off and replaced em w/Bridgestone Ms
But these wide based whole different animal---& they r plenty tough

I wouldn't run super singles unless either unit (tractor and/or trailer) had wide-based axles to accommodate s-s's and give you proper support and stability. They look stupid and dangerous otherwise.

There's no stability difference between duals or singles. They have been applied in many different applications and not once have I heard of a Rollover due to having SS on. Mainly they are used for weight savings as they along with aluminum rims will save a lot of weight per axle.

There is virtually no weight savings if the trailer is spec new with ss. They use a heavier axle. This was straight from the VP of sales at Timpte.

I'm not talking about SS vs. duals I'm talking about SS on standard axle vs. SS on "wide" axle. I will challenge your notion that there have been no roll-overs that at least may partially be due to the narrower SS platform.

I tried super singles for the first time this winter and HATED THEM. I never slipped and slided more in my career. Simple pull out onto the street? Your trailers gonna push you. Running I-29 in the Dakotas? Be prepared for your trailer possibly passing you. Rain? Drop it 10 mph so ya dont hydroplane. I prefer 8 points of contact to the road on my drives...

I almost fell over the other day with these singles on. Had to put my foot out the door to stop it. That was a close one.
