I will look into this as well. Anything to "get my foot in the door" as they say. Thank you.

Yes, they are both training companies. Also Swift has a terminal in Fontana. In fact So-Cal is a trucking hotspot, if you can't find a job there you can't find one anywhere. Do not go to CR England unless you absolutely have to.

Will do!! And I see on their website that they pay 20-25% of the load...I have not encountered this before. Is that good, bad, or terrible? The gentleman I spoke with today said they only run CA, NV, and AZ so I figure it would be more the way they do it than it would be by mileage but I'm not sure. Anyone?

I remember my dog ride out to springfield. There was this guy who looked like a drunken crackhead siting in the back for hours he kept swaying his head back and forth while mumbling. I think he pissed on the floor everytime the bus driver hit the brakes i would lift my feet up and watch what looked like a stream of piss wiz by...goodtimes. But once i got to springfield it was all good. 3 years with prime and i still like it here and i make good money. Think made 50k my 1st year and new driver pays been upped since so that 50k maybe like 53k-54k for new guy now. You know that we pay per mile. Some companies will pay a percent of the load. I can tell you this it is typical for an otr refer truck to gross 160k per year so at 20% of that your pay = ouch i wouldnt take 32k to gone all the time or at 25% it would 40k compaired to 53k at prime. For you to make 50k off percent of the load type pay your truck would have to gross 200k at 25% for you which isnt impossible. Trucks can gross 200k but if someone told me that they were and that i should sign up i would want to see proof before i believed it. Doesnt mean that other company wouldnt be great for you maybe they have great hometime or benifits? But im not aware of any company that pays a new guy what prime does. Also why do you need a year of otr experiance? Is it because you want to go local asap? If so keep in mind that just because almost all local jobs require experiance doesnt mean you cant apply anyway. Ive heard of guys getting hired anyway sometimes just because the companies expanding and needs ppl experianced or not. Search for a thread here type old dominion in the search bar youll find the one i mean. Guys got a local job makin prolly 60k w\o experiance. Can be done. Oh and the d.o.t. has been shutting down schools that focus on "get your cdl in 3 days" type crap lately. So thats why the companies like to train themselves. They just dont know what school people are coming to them from anymore. Hope that helps. Lemme know if i can help anymore

Thanks for the input. I do not know what the trucks make in a year. They are definitely refer trucks and you nailed the advantage on the head. I live 27 miles from their terminal and will be home a couple times per week instead of one weekend a month. I have two daughters and one of them is still a little too young to only see me two days a month or even less. Don't get me wrong, I will do what I need to in order to provide for them but if I can get a job with more home time then I will jump at the opportunity. I don't want to go local ASAP per say but I did not attend any type of school to get my CDL. Knight Refridgerated called me and when I told them I have no experience the recruiter told me that I would need to take a refresher course and that my school should have one I can take. I explained to the recruiter that I did not attend a school and that was the end of their interest. The recruiter said I had to have gone through some sort of school in order to be eligible for them. The biggest reason I want to get a years experience is strictly because it opens a lot more doors opportunistically speaking. All info is as always appreciated by me my friend. And I will let you know if I have any specific questions for you about PRIME or life OTR. I still have not heard a word from PRIME since I applied so we will see what happens..

With these mega carriers, dont wait for a call. If you qualify you are guaranteed a job, so you call them.

Its just a weeding out process like the military or law enforcement. First step is mvr/background. Next step is orientation/ dot physical/ drug test. Last step most likely a road test. Once you pass those, theyll stick you with a trainer then congratulations, you're officially a trucker.

With PRIME (as well as every company I have applied for) I have called after applying and found out who the computer system assigned as my recruiter and requested that persons extension. After doing that I have called and left a few voicemails with each one.
