What kind of trucks does Poly use? Auto or Manual?

Manual, straight 10 in an International Prostar with either a ISX Cummins or a Maxxfarce.

This may be why it isn't a big deal to deadhead back from a delivery on a flatbed load...this was at almost the 400 mile mark.

No love for me on loads tomorrow. I have been on Fridays board since Tuesday afternoon...and they ran out of loads before they got to me. I got a large number of loads to choose from for Saturday. Many many multi-stop loads. Some 5 stoppers...but I chose a Valdosta for Monday morning. That'll at least get me low 2000's by mid week. All in all that flatbed load worked out o.k. although I feel like I did 1000 sit-ups.

Oh, and they moved HR to the new building now. I just found out

I hope everything falls into place for you. Buying or refinancing a house has become a royal PITA. I've been through it twice in the last two years; the second time I cancelled the whole transaction after the government decided on the Friday before the scheduled close on Monday that they needed more "documentation". In no uncertain terms, I told them where they could shove their whole process. I ended up buying the house by borrowing the money at 3% from my father.

Take good care, and I'll have my fingers crossed for ya!

No loads left for me either on the Friday board so I took my old stand by load going to the motor city which will get me through my mom's tomorrow. Nice 1350 mile start over the last two days and they even had my Saturday load ready for me when I pulled in to 900 the last one. Decided to hitch her on up and roll out of Dallas tonight so I won't have to deal with the traffic in the morning. Deliver on Monday and checked my back haul info which has me picking up in Adrian, MI and rolling back to Houston so things are looking good.

That's why when I go home I make an agreement with my DM as to date/Time I'll call him for a load assignment. Then click off goes the cell phone. Anyone of importance in my life knows my home number and the company does not. Problem solved.

Poly's system doesn't use DM's. We only have 300ish drivers, and the Outbound department has 2 or 3 people who know you by name and if there is a problem then one of the managers in our 'compliance' department would call and -ask- for your help.

As a 'new to Poly', I try to help whenever possible. I still feel like I am in the trial period of my employment here and want to prove that I am a valuable member of the team. Poly has gone out of their way in the past when I needed them, so it's only fair to do the same in return. I am sure that is just what was going on here as well.

The biggest adjustment when coming here, I would say, is getting rid of the "us vs. them" mentality when it comes to the operations department. I have yet to feel as if they are trying to screw me over(I was concerned when I had that ticket issue over a faulty shop repair job, but they took care of it w/o a fight)...it's always been a feeling of a team effort with the goal of taking care of the customer. Just have to remember, even though our company name ends in "trucking" we aren't a trucking company per say...we are the delivery division of Poly America...delivering company products, then just back hauling general freight to cover the cost of the return trip to pick up more company product.
