My 2 cents.. Occasionally I run across a driver that says he/she gets paid by the hour, or so they say... I have not yet known of a company that will compensate a driver for on duty time. speaking from an otr and regional stand point.. pay? percentage or cpm .. what walmart experience's I have come to know are through outside companies.. frankly I'm little burnt on store to store at the moment, for a cpm driver dc to d, or pick up a drop at dc seems a bit better, again at the moment... I don't get paid for any on duty time doing anything walmart.

We get paid good compared to most in the industry. I don't like the way things are going, but everything is done because of liability and law suits. I agree we should be paid for all we do, and I have made this known more than once. But to sue over the deal is not the way to go about it in my opinion considering how well we are compensated for everything else. Cranky Yankee might have a good point.

You mentioned Detroit, not even the same situation by a long shot. This action is not about greed, its about holding Bentonville to the legal standard.

The auto wash is to finish the process, most of the drivers interviewed said they spent an average of 30 minutes on a visit to the wash rack. Drivers who swap in and out of tractors or are in a hurry are the ones who only use the auto wash,at least at our DC. We take very good care of our tractors, for me its brushes, auto wash, towel dry and vaccum. About 30 minutes on my go home day and sometimes on the day I go out.

Its called work and because of that you should be paid. Again this is not about complaining and asking for more its about fair and legal compensation. Go ahead and figure up what you do for free in a year and tell me your good with that,if you are were in big trouble.

I'm sure you want to be paid while the fueler is fueling your truck. You don't have to wash your truck espially if your a full time. You do it to maintain an image of a clean safe fleet. Some things you do and don't ask for pay because its the right thing to do. With the way we are treated hear you should be that way. If you are treated poorly then I don't expect the truck to be clean like most other carriers. As stated earlier policies are in place to protect the company. BTW, my Dc and region are so busy that there really isn't any time to figure out what you ask and if I did, it would only come out to a few dollars here and there. Just let everyone know when you want to be paid for showering at the Dc. I leave you with this because my head is starting to hurt, good luck with your lawsuit in CA no matter the out come.

Considering what the rest of the truckers of the world put up with and are paid compared to us, I disagree. You have a great paying job, better than most. To bring suit over these minor details seems way over the top to me. The comparison I was making to Detroit was they kept pushing for more until they didn't have anything. That could happen overnight with WalMart as well. I think a lot of WalMart drivers don't appreciate what they have, and have forgotten what they left behind when they got hired on at WMT. Just my humble opinion.

Loayalty and respect needs to be earned by both parties. All I see with the new Walmart is a big increase in distrust, disloyalty and disrespect towards the drivers. The mass terminations of good drivers that in years past would have had chances is something that will never set right with many of the older guys. But if good earnings make it right and you can feel good and accept things then thats the way we will go moving forward. This is not the same Walmart that it was even a few years ago and its for sure not the big deal it once was.

What alot of the newer guys dont seem to understand and maybe never will is that there are many of us that came from better paying jobs were we had years of seniority. What attracted us to the private fleet was the loyalaty, respect and all the little things Walmart offered, things we just didnt have at our other jobs. Another big thing was being associated with other drivers that had put in their time, paid their dues and were looking forward to finishing their time at what was a very driver friendly company. Alot of that is changing now its distrust, intrusive policies and disrespect from the new Walmart. Drivers are now an expendable commodity just like at the mega fleets.

New guys coming on barely meeting the minimum requirements acting like they have it all down and thinking because they are here that they are the elite among drivers is a big issue with me and more than a few others. This was at one time a job that you earned and sometimes it took years and alot of investment in time and money before you joined us. Now its streamlined with alot of the hoops removed so its more of a "friendly" process for the new school of pups. Believe me its not a big deal and its not the same if its available to anyone that meets the very lame minimum requirements.

Please show me the proof of one, just one driver who has gotten on with the minimum requirements.

There are almost 900 drivers involved in this action, its hardly a few guys with an ax to grind. In the end how many come forward will be the real test. Fear of intimidation and retaliation is something that concearns many of us. Im glad the issues listed in the suit only amount to a few dollars for you Matt, maybe think about someone thats been here for twenty years. Maybe consider that some might like a shot at the settlement if one comes about. Its clear your a big cheerleader and practicaly the official poster boy for the new Walmart but some of us are pretty pissed off at the way things are going. Not all of us deserve to be treated like children, thats for the new school not for guys that have proved their loyalty thru years of safe service.

Im getting a big headache myself but I want all of you to think about this scenario. After years of loyal service with no discipline issues you find yourself terminated due to one of the new policies. Maybe you feel you were 100% in the right and at least deserve a second chance but with the new Walmart your gone, done and your record is destroyed. Now you have to go home and tell your family that things are going to change and change big time. A termination from Walmart is a death sentence for these guys and it hurts more than the driver. That scenario is one your going to be seeing alot in the future.
