    Do whatever is best for you and your family Pallas83. If that means CR England for 6 months to get the required experience, then so be it! Don't worry one bit about disappointing anyone who may have told you to stay away from CRE. The only true obligation you have is to yourself and your family. I'm routing for you Trucker!

    Gor one more for you to try. Interstate Distributor. Pretty sure they have a terminal in Southern California.

    Have you tried calling prime and asking if you have been assigned a recruiter and to speak with them. Sorry to hear your having trouble pallas. Dont forget to check out ltl companies like challenger and i have suggested. Estas, Saia, old dominion , Roadway, Conway, Fedex, Ups, ABF. Are all ltl companies some are union some are not, some will hire as a driver right off the bat if you catch them in need tho this not likely at the union ltl's, and some will require you work the dock while waiting for a promotion to driver. All ltl companies pay very well and can offer drivers typically a five day work week home every day.

    Alrighty guys....today has been pretty much an unexpected good day. I received a call today from CRST who will hire me provided I take a two week traiining program at a CRST approved school. They will pay for said training 100% as long as I were to sign an 8 month contract with them. It doesnt seem like a terrible deal but the thing is that they strictly run teams and I would prefer to be solo but like I said...whatever gets me the experience and it's not England!!!!

    Now I know what some of you guys reading this are thinking..."you're right Pallas83 it's not England but it's not much of an improvement either" to which I say....ahem...I was also contacted today by PRIDE Transport (PRIDE NOT PRIME) out of SLC. They have now offered to get me into a class whenever I want with them. I can go as early as this coming Monday the 7th or in a few weeks when I am ready. I am REALLY thinking of going with Pride due to the differences in reviews I have read on here and because I would be able to go solo with them. I am awaiting info from both companies regarding their pay packages and all that good stuff. I as always appreciate the good thoughts and well wishes from the few of you who are following this.

    If there are any drivers out there who do work or have worked for either of these companies that has any advice please let me know. I will update once I have read the info on both companies so i can ask any questions I may have remaining.

    Go with Pride. I have not heard anything too bad about them. They run reefer which means more than likely you would team but hey its better than being unemployed right??? On the plus side, it looks like you have options now;

    CRE
    CRST
    Pride

    Out of the three, I choose Pride. Newer better maintained equipment out of the three. Good luck in whatever decision you choose.

    I worked for Pride, they are a decent/good outfit. Great equipment, office people are friendly/professional and they treat you like a human being not like at some of these mega carriers. Pay isnt the highest but theyll run you if you want to run. Do NOT go to crst or england no matter what, absolutely bottom the barrel carriers

    Pride you run solo, you can team if you want, they run a lot of socal too so youll be home a lot. Produce loads arent the best but still beats crst or england any day.of the week!

    Thank you...I am glad that I finally received some calls back. Yeah I am thinking Pride would be my best option of the three.

    i have read a lot of good things about Pride on here and one bad thing (which was one reply on a thread of good things to say about them.) Now to convince the wife to let me go hahaha. I still want to see their information package. The lady did not mention the pay rate (I completely forgot to ask) and I want to see what their home time policy is. I appreciate the input.

    I do have children. I have a 14 year old step daughter and a seven year old daughter from a previous relationship. The oldest lives with us full time and the youngest I have "every other weekend" which really means "whenever my ex has plans". The oldest is used to me being away from home for the union gig considering ALOT of the jobs I have done have been 7 10 hour days. I even ended up in Northern California from July of last year to September. The youngest will be sad I think but I will take her any time I have some home time so I would hope it would still equal out to at least getting to see her 4 days a month.
