how bout it yall,
i'll keep it short and to the point. i have been driving for 15 months. started with maverick. was there 5 months and had to come off the road to help my wife with my gravely ill dad. despite what they told me,("if you have to leave just bring us the truck back, don't abandon it, and you are eligible for rehire.") according to my DAC i am not eligible for rehire. so, i have been driving locall since a couple of LONG months of searching. to be nice and clean, things at work are tense, i can see writing on the wall, someone has a bucket of $Hi7 behind the fan, etc.... i have started to look for possible opportunities, specifically local and dedicated. As i suspected, local is sewed up and dedicated chances are with "unreputable" companies. any ideas or advice??? (besides quit driving, i love it. i ain't quiten.)
Possibly leaving local job.....any suggestions?

My prayers to you and your family.

Only thing you can do really, is start knocking on doors and filling out applications.
Try finding a company that doesn't use DAC. With 15 months, you SHOULD be able to find something decent. Good luck, man. -
Go to a powder company, cement you will make as much as running otr, andd get to be home. or fuel.

You don't give enough information for us to help; "Backwoods" is not in the atlas. What's the nearest reasonably large town or city near you.

Have you looked into tankers? If I read it correctly an outfit like Superior will run you somewhere and quite often back. I think they have local drivers out of Savannah or regional.
bigbrett Thanks this. -
that is actually one of about 3 companies i have been looking into. -
and superior has a terminal in augusta. but word is you gotta "know the right one" to get on there....

Look for a small company. The big carriers will snub your experience.. doesn't matter if you pulled much heavier loads than their drivers, ran on terrain that their drivers will never see, etc. You'll be told you're not an experienced driver, they'll feed you a BS song and dance, etc. In the end, the Roehl recruiter did me a huge favor by turning me away, and I called back later to thank him for it. He must've been really moved, because he just went silent.
frank_the_tank and bigbrett Thank this.
