I've never had any problems using the truck for personal conveyance. You have to follow all the guidelines for doing it that way. 1. You must start and end up in the same place. 2. No trailer. 3. Log it on line 1. 4. Cannot be compensated for it in anyway.

If you are taking the tractor in for repairs, a wash, oil change, that kind of stuff does not qualify. Bob tailing to go pick up a trailer does not qualify.

Going to take a shower, get some food, visit a friend, go for it.

I was told only within a 15 mile out and back. Personal conveyance is not driving. It does not go on drive line. No trailer and not under dispatch (ie no frieght and not advancing towards a dispatched stop). My people net even had an off duty personal conveyance button.

My Peoplenet doesn't have an off duty driving option but it is perfectly legal to drive after being relieved from duty regardless of distance or HOS as long as you are not pulling a trailer. You can even bobtail home 100 miles off duty if you wanted. USA just doesn't allow you to log off duty driving just like they dont allow split sleepers.

Starting orientation next Wednesday. Wanted to does USA Trucking avoid loads that take you by the house like my last place? I live in Charlotte, NC. Appreciate the insight.

No, but it seems like it is the way these truck companies operate. I am still considering applying to them.

No, They will run you by the house, thats usually not problem unless you start goofing around and not getting the load picked up/delivered on time because you hung around the house too long. Then you'll wont get within 200 miles of it.

    Thomas0810 and mlj7 Thank this.

I don't have to work at USA to know it sucks. You just have to look at their equipment, payscale and benefits to see what a miserable bottom of the barrel outfit it is.
