Has this been regulated yet? If you have a high bmi and get tested and use a cpap, can you still drive? Will companies shy away from you?
So whats the deal with BMI?

BMI is company policy. It is not part of the DOT Physical. -

BMI and Sleep Apnea go together. -
I wish it was a company policy at ALL driving companies, AND a part of the DOT Physical! -
Sad that you have to have your hand held by the government intervention.48Packard Thanks this. -

hmmmm i may have opened up a can of worms lol .........but can you tell me how incorporating BMI into company and/or DOT physical testing would HURT a driver? -
Worms are sometimes OK, more so if the subject is taboo......I served as a deputy sheriff (13 yrs) before getting my CDL's. GA attempted to mandate a BMI count for all law enforcement officers. However, upon research the state realized that it would cause a mass shortage of officers. Trucking would be the same way. It is hard to regulate certain health attributes in any industry. It is a good idea for us all to realize that by our obesity levels, poor diets and low exercise levels, that we are not only endangering ourselves but those that are on the road when we are..I have seen accidents happen when a driver has an M.I. while driving....I'm one that's OK for a fit life style which produces a lower BMI which in turns solve a lot of our health issue's.
I would go as far to make a challenge to anyone that has some type of health issue to follow a strict program for 6 months and see if diabetes, high cholesterol, BHP and almost any other disease will go away.......
