My husband felt the same way, he had a freightliner with a working APU and in fact turned down the first new volvo that hit the terminal. He has been with the company forever. ( If you ever see a senority list his name is right on top) It is smaller inside no doubt and he had to downsize, but he is very happy with it and he's very impressed with the automatic especially in heavy traffic, or when it's backed up because of an accident, in the hills, etc...

our automatic does good going through the hills, mtns, and valleys. It has a manual mode...where you hit a plus or minus button to do all the gear changing yourself...

repeating another post of mine... I ran 120k with a 10 speed....then 20k with an Ishift. What do I prefer?
    Im buying a truck....
    It has an Ishift.

I did note that my 10spd managed to consistently post 7.8 or more Mpg, while the new Ishift I ran struggled to maintain 6 mpg. I have been told that W/S was playing with different shift programs, and mine was not one of the good ones.
So..... since I have a deposit and down payment already made on an Ishift truck, Im SERIOUSLY hoping that was true. lol

Im really not an expert at all in anything to do with trucking at all, as I just graduated back in march. I was taught the importance of safety and the csa scores of a company. The bottom line for me on this subject, judging by what was posted here is this..... The majority of the offenses that I seen really fall back on the driver! My personal opinion is that they don't require you to do a pretrip inspection just to give you a hard time or make your job harder. If you don't want to do the pretrip inspection, you are the one putting yourself and others in danger! Therefore you should be the one held responsible, not the company. And just to clarify, the reason I say they fall back on the driver is because at the end of the day, if your rig is not in safe operating order or if you know that something is not in compliance with DOT, guess what, YOU CAN REFUSE TO MOVE THAT RIG! I would much rather be fired,or disciplined in other ways, than put myself or others in danger by driving a faulty or non compliant rig....PERIOD
