Man you guys are really defensive in this thread. I never said anything about I hope he fails or nothing like that. I started out pointing out a fact about the paycheck being 1000. That was the number before taxes. Then everyone else jumped in and turned it into I'm bashing the guy and hope he fails and I'm not in his shoes (whatever the meant). I hope he succeeds. I was gonna do the choice program myself. But the numbers just weren't adding up. So you guys have fun night I'm gonna go to bed now and deliver in the morning then go home with my family this weekend because that's where I'm at every weekend. Roll on!

just what you wanted. Now go away.
I hear Werner, Swift, and western Express have some disgruntled drivers. Why not go over there and share your wisdom, Bye

Man, had to bust out the computer to post up today's events!

Awoke and started my clock at 8 am. Dumped $850 in fuel into the blue beast (full tank) as well as 8 gallons of def and headed out to drive the whopping 8 miles to my live unload. Took 1 1/2 hrs to empty my truck. Had three hours to kill before I could pick my next load up and since I was driving right past the Atlanta OC I figured what the heck? So I drove the 50 miles there and bought some parts for my truck. Got a couple of windshield washer blades, $2.70 each, and a new clearance light, around $19.00. Also had them take a look at my fifth wheel, again! It had started becoming harder to pull the handle and release it. They cleaned it up good and regreased everything. Works great now! Will have to keep an eye on it, pretty sure I can do the maintenance on it form now on.
So after that drove another 15 miles to pick up my D/H that is headed to Amarillo. Took about 30 minutes, and my 30,000 lb load turned into a 5557 lb load!!! Woohooo!!!!
Then I drove another 300 miles toward Amarillo. Here at the Loves, exit 81, on US 78, the future I 22, in Tupelo MS. Not used to running this late, only three spots left when I pulled in!
Only 800 miles left to drive to Amarillo, and I can't deliver this load until 7 am on Friday. So I got two easy days coming up. Gonna stop in Little Rock for a bit tomorrow and see my mom.
I booked another load today that will get me to Salt Lake City by next Monday. From there I am gonna route myself home, been four weeks, it's time!

Take care and keep on keeping on........

    Grijon and mickimause Thank this.

Actually moosc, I take out 25% for taxes every paycheck and set it into it's own account. I don't want any surprises later!

Just wanted to take a moment and thank Sadwar (again thanks :p ) for posting his numbers to give us n00bs an idea of what the choice program is like, how the pay & money situation of an owner/operator/independent contractor is like. For a low week they look pretty good to me and a good bit higher in pay than my perm job with "benefits" (if you want to call high deductible insurance with no doc copay benefits but its better than nothing)

    Hey everybody,

It's been mentioned earlier in my thread and others, but I want to mention it again.
Referrals..... If you found anybody's thread on the forum useful, including dieselfuelonly, chknwing, atruckr, myself, and others, please consider using them as your referral. When you speak to a Schneider recruiter and/or a Schneider lease rep, one of the first things they ask you is if you were referred. All they need is a driver's name and driver's number.
None of us post on this forum to get referrals, I post on here to let everybody know what I am going through and my personal journey. I actually look forward to reading the posts and posting up my experiences. It's a type of therapy for me, personally.
So anyway, if you can or want to, please consider using someone as a referral. It costs you nothing.
    Thanks! And take care....

Grijon, iamnoone and mickimause Thank this.
