why should cars pay tolls? They are just driving to work to keep the economy moving. Id prefer just hire tax and no tools, but, we use the roads the sameway everyone else does. We make a profit by driving. Others spend tool money to get to work. My biggest problem with tools is the money collected not going to fixing the roads.

It's so you can drive 95 in a 75.

My only problem with tolls is how poorly the revenue is mismanaged. Just like everything the government(state, local, and feds) have their hands in. I wouldn't be surprised if there was as much as 70 or 80 percent wasted.
Those are personal opinions tho. The business side of me doesn't care what tolls cost, just like fuel it's just another cost, 50 bucks, or 500 doesn't matter. The load either pays a good enough rate to make a good profit on it, or someone else can haul it.icsheeple Thanks this. -

Im speaking for o/o and company drivers...all truck drivers...because my vehicle bigger I pay more in tolls....what u doing with the money....sure not fixing the raggedy highways up here

The weight causes more damage so they calculate your so called fair share. Many of these states you travel through and not necessarily deliver. You could work for a toll dodger and run side roads for 600 miles.
If you run from Rockford, IL to Boston, MA will cost you roughly $230 running I-90.
If you run the PA turnpike to Philly make a drop and run up the NJ Turnpike across the GW bridge will run you roughly $366.scottied67 Thanks this. -
IL didn't raise cash tolls the last time tolls for cars were raised, and they would prefer we use toll roads, not that I really care what they prefer, if it doesn't save me time, and I know the roads well enough to know what I'm hearing on the radio, I don't take them. I don't take IN unless there is a compelling reason, and even OH is about a wash in time saved during construction season, remember, if the Turnpike stops,, you are literally a prisoner there until it reopens if you can't get to an exit.
CondoCruiser, are those prices current? I haven't driven more than a few miles on the PA Turnpike since they last raised the tolls, I won't even drive a car on it. -
Its just cost me 84 dollars. ...I was hotter then the bottom of hell

Tolls go up, price go up. Fuel goes up, price goes up. Payroll goes up, price goes up. I have no problem paying tolls and I have no problem going around tolls if worth while. My rate reflects the cost of the tolls and deadhead involved because I'm in business. This isn't a hobby, it isn't a job, it's a business. If PA wants to charge $10 a mile, I'll increase my PA charges by $12 and make money off the deal. Why is this so hard to figure out?
spyder7723, UTurn1 and mp4694330 Thank this.
