If we are to make a strike really work we the truck drivers and owner operators need to put all of our differences aside. We need to unite, and we need to orginize. Then we need to plan it out so that everyone knows about the strike.
A strike should be planned for when D O T does their 72 hour crack down. With a lack of trucks to inspect would help get our point across. We need to pick a couple people to go to Washington to represent all of us with a list of things that need to change in this industry.
Some things that need to change in this industry, 1: cost of fuel verses fuel sir charge, 2: frieght rates, 3: How we get jerked around by shippers and consignees, 4: D.O.T. regs and the law makers writting them, 5: Trucking companies that lie to drivers and truck owners just to get them to sign on with them, 6: Broker charges and why they are pulling % off fuel sir charge.
These are just a few suggestions I thought of in a short time. If we had a list and people to represent the industry when truckers shut down it would have a larger affect on the out come of the strike.
We would need to get companies to agree with a 3 to 5 day shut down and get it in writting so they could not back out. We would not really need the big 3 to go with it. They do not have enough trucks on the road to hurt it. They are the ones to blame for the cheap rates on frieght anyway.
This last strike did nothing but make people laugh at this industry. Most people do not really believe that if they buy it a truck brought it.
It is time to start working on a real strike that brings shippers and recievers on their knees. It is time to truely work together as a team to make changes for our industry. We can not do it alone. We hold the power when working as a whole not as one. The constitution reads We The People. Lets prove it!!!!!!!!!

This is all ready in place. We've been trying to get more people to ACT voluntarily and step p to the plate as STATE REPRESENTATION.

As far as a MASS strike? No... I've got the names and numbers of to many Past, RALLYs, Convoys, Protests, and shutdowns to say that we will MASS shutdown again.

We are going to use the "NUMBERS AS POWER GAME now."
If anyone want to get involved in this. PM me.

The shutdown / protests where not in Vein.

I think the biggest problem of organizing a strike/shutdown will be the 15 minutes of fame syndrome.

EVERYONE will want to be in on the "glory" of being called the "leader/organizer".

I see it now across multiple forums, and will continue to see it until this blows up or over.

Until a real leader emerges. I sit.

And so what is the problem with this?
MISSISSIPPI Needs a Volintary leader to step up to the plate! Is it YOU?

And GLORY? NO, "ONE" person will take the glory for anything. It's now a mass group of people from EACH STATE thats taking the ball to their Political backing in their home state. The government representation is the ones who take what we have provided to them to Congress / Washington.

WE NEED MORE LEADERS to emerge! Or, those that are stepping up to the plate will have to deal with the DRIVERS, and the drivers will have to work with the Reps from other people not in their own home state.

Its as simple as this, IF WE cant get a leader from MISSISSIPPI? Then your NEIGHBOR STATE REP will step up to the plate for your state. THATS WHY this is now important.

DONT run your mouth about it, DO something about it!

Our STATE representation is now asking for FACTS and FIGURES on FUEL.

They want just 15 Drivers here from OHIO to provide them with GROSS PROFIT Vs the TOTAL cost in fuel for a 3 year SPAN.

The voluntary leaders here in Ohio are working with Dennis Kucinich and introducing a proposal that is backed not just by us here in OHIO, but 15 other STATE reps, and their Government officials.

This is VERY IMPORTANT! Either step up to the plate and say WHAT CAN I DO? Or just pass up reading this thread... What's the point.....

We cant make changes if YOU are not willing to help!

Well I am from Wisconsin. I would not have made the statement if I was not willing to step to the plate. I am very out spoken and don't care if I hurt some ones feelings to get the truth acroos. If the truth hurts then F them. I grew up in this industry as my father was a owner op for years. Now I am and I believe that glory is for thrill seekers. This is my life and my families future. Some one has to make a stand. Like I also said our constitution reads WE THE PEOPLE not WE THE GOVERNMENT. I am willing to Rep. Wis and or the whole industry. It is time for a change. We need to make that change. No one else is going to stand up for us so we need too.

.....and those who want to be in charge you can have it and everything that goes with it as well!

I have called, emailed, talked to face to face with so many fools it's not even funny! They ( the drivers ) want to change things but they dont want to get off there ### and do anything or they think that the strike is a foolish idea and want no part of it even though it will benefit everyone, they are just to stubborn to open there eyes. They ##### and cry for miles about how they dont have the money to fuel their trucks or they cant make house payments and when i tell them they need to do something about it other than ######## they curse me out or want to kick my tail! I have never seen so many poor excuses for men until the last few weeks during my attempt to fight the good fight.

The few government officials i have spoken with all agree as well that something needs to be done but have stated that they do not have the power to do anything or they pretty much came right out and said they dont care about a bunch of stupid drivers and will not support them in anything they do!

Same with all of the small company owners i have talked to here in my area. They state that even with the high cost of everything that they can not or will not do anything to support the movement!

I mean really why bother with this. It obvious from reading a great many posts here and on other forums that no one gives a #### about anyone other than them selves! I'm all about fighting the good fight but ####, They say that the number of truck drivers in the U.S. number somewhere around 3 million, i never new until that that 90% of em were A holes! If these people dont have the intelligence to see what is going on right in front of there eyes or dont have the compassion for there fellow man to do the right thing then i say to hill with them all.

In a few years they will see that the lives they once had have gone to crap but by then it will be to late and they will have no one to blame but your selves. Talk about digging your own grave!

GOG HELP YOU ALL BECAUSE MOST OF YOU SURE AS HELL WILL NOT HELP YOURSELVES!!!!!!

Please stop. Stop and take a breath for a moment. Do we want the government setting rates? Do you want the government setting your fuel surcharge? The laws are written to address perceived problems from the public not just to poke a stick in your eye. Do we really want the government on loading docks? Are all companies always lying to screw drivers? Are you sure some drivers aren't embellishing facts about former employers? Do we want the government to address this? Really? Brokers taking part or all of a surcharge on fuel, that I think everyone would say isn't right...except maybe the brokers. Please stop asking for the government to step in to fix or regulate our issues. Be careful what you wish for. Name a government program that identified a problem, solved it, then went away.
