Sound advice. Of course I had been looking at the load board for a week, ever since I booked the load into Amarillo, to find a load out. None appeared. Didn't think waiting one more day would have mattered. And the pay INTO Amarillo alone justified the d/h I would have to do to get out, at least to me. Plus I am working my way back home to Cali. A big old snowball of things all piling up. It is what it is, it doesn't bother me at all. It seems to bother everyone else on here though.... Everybody has an opinion, just like everybody has a choice....

Wondering what is the problem with deadheading long distance if it is worth it! Not being a jerk here just wondering what freaks people out about this? I don't need to do it often, but hell! ie...If that 50, 100, 300 or 600 mile deadhead/bobtail pays 1.60 per mile ("including empty miles")and all the other loads close by only pay 1.30 ("including empty miles")then heck! I take it when it's feasible. Makes complete sense to me. Other wise your wasting time and money taking cheapy loads to get you out of a bad area when you can pay yourself better!

I understand that SNI tells us they don't pay MT miles which is true. They don't pay it separately in addition to the load. It is included in the load amount. I know it's a risk if the load cancels but if you show up they pay you at least $150 for a canceled load and if they tell you in route then your only out what you traveled and probably can find a load where ever you are to make up for it. Just saying.

Yeh, don't worry if it is working for you. I tried my best to get out of New York last week headed to the house. I thought I had it worked out and it fell through. So I ended up eating the deadhead miles. I did manage a VNU but that hardly paid for all of my fuel...

Some drivers would rather pay to haul someones freight than deadhead. Me peraonally I will DH where ever necessary to run MY business. I also have no problem with those who disagree with me. I will not pay to haul freight though. I'd rather pay to dh.
