Also make sure they need trucks for a while, at least long enough to get whatever you buy paid off. It's a cutthroat, tough business. Seems like people get into it, work for nothing, don't put anything back into their trucks, then when they wear out or break they go away.

That might be a bit of overkill. A 12k or 14k front axle is plenty.

If you are going to be hauling in Michigan you may want to rethink a Triaxle, i see very few triaxles, the few i have seen are pulling a 7 axle pup. Most dump trucks are 4 axle pulling a 6 axle pup. You will see far more Semis pulling a set of trains since they can legally carry slightly more weight than a 4 axle dump pulling a 6 axle pup. Before you buy anything make sure you will have work and decide what you want to do, haul inbound from the quarry, or haul from the jobsite to the plants.

With the cambleback comment I dought you have ever opened a Mack. Even guys that don't maintain them never need to replace only wear parts. I still have origional trunion in my 1985 DM tri axle.

If it's going to be a dump truck, just about EVERYTHING on the truck you can expect to replace several times over the life of the truck...

Not sure where you get that. All dump trucks run 18k or more front axles. We run 20 k fronts and are often very close to being over with the set back axle.

Because I've been an owner operator for over twenty years and currently on my third ten wheel dump truck. All of them have been 12k front axles and 40k rear tandem. I've only used 15 ft. dump boxes on mine. We can legally run 12 tons at a time. Maybe you are talking super tens or bigger trucks. I don't know.

Wow they hold you guys down on weight... I own 3 ten wheelers all 20k fronts 46 rears and we can run legal at 65k. I also have 2 tri axles and we can run those to 78k.

I've got a 3 axle I drive and my dad has a 4 axle. I try and run 13-13.5 ton on but I really should have a heavier front axle, I can put quite a bit of weight more than 12k on my front, and I'm set foreword axle. I can't remember how much, I'll axle myself out a few times at the pit tomorrow. My dad's 4 axle truck he runs about 15-15.5 ton, he's a set back front axle. Unless things change we'll be running the same haul tomorrow and I'll try and get him to axle himself out as well and report back to you guys.

A lot of the contractors I work for get grumpy at or don't call guys who will only haul 12 ton per trip. I'm trying to find time to hang a drop axle under mine just need another good 3 day weekend to pop up.
