Am I the only one who said "oh, my God!" and "just stop!" a thousand times whilst watching the video. I know he brought it upon himself, but that poor guy. I wonder what the follow-up story was.
Am i at fault for using common sense.

Had to bust a handful of U-Turns in my time.
Like other parts of our job, all there is to it... be sure no one sees it.Chinatown Thanks this. -

I've never heard of a no U-Turn Policy at my company and i pull 10' spreads with 48k on the deck on a regular basis. Do what you have to do to get your job done and do the least amount of damage possible in the process. Tell the company and the driver to go eat #### and let you do your job.

pretty sure hes gonna need a new wind fairing.......

ill give the driver in this video credit for his tenacity, and fierce disregard for company trucks!
NavigatorWife and ramblingman Thank this. -
For especially newbies they're bound to make mistakes because everything with trucking is so overwhelming and so much they have to absorb.Even veterans encounter a low bridge only they take it upon themselves to try and make the bridge higher clearance.I give this op a thumbs up for reading signs and noticed the low clearance sign. But doing a uturn we don't know what the street looked liked. The op learned not to do uturns and hopefully safety takes that into consideration.Like I said no damage was done so safety should just give him a warning and leave it at that.Far as Mr.Tattle Teller goes,I bet he couldn't wait to get this driver in trouble.Had it been me I would have talked to that driver about how wrong it was rather then get him in trouble.Drivers learn and listen more from their own kind rather then the company.

We all have made/will continue to make mistakes. Whether you're driving 1 year or 10 years. We are all human and because of what we do, it is the nature of the beast. Welcome to trucking 101. Going to 8,000,000 different places that you've never been before opens up the possibility for making a wrong turn, getting into a pinch, etc. it happens. Couple that with a vehicle bigger than a house and guess what? A u-turn maybe in order. And for that "driver" who notified the company, wow. Just wow. I hope the butt tastes good buddy. Good and brown and stinky. A real driver/trainer would have talked to him and showed him a better way instead of being a little ##### about it.
Tonythetruckerdude, freightlinerman, Derailed and 2 others Thank this. -
