Your right and I dont want to change the goals I already have set up. Maybe after a year It could pull my attention away from school, but at the same time I doubt it. But I will just get my CDL for the moment, and think about this and thanks again for the advice

Just one other thing to think about if you are going to hold a CDL ...
**someone correct me if I am wrong here**
If you are not driving truck but are a CDL holder, the laws are a bit tighter, as far as the limit for alcohol, even while driving your personal car ... and sometimes if you get a petty speeding ticket, some states will allow drivers a "freebie" that won't go on their record - or if they attend traffic school they can get out of it, stuff like that, - CDL holders often get no leeway for that kind of stuff ... -
Cdl .04 only applys while operating a cmv yoi are bound by the vehicle your driving not the class of yor dl
gokiddogo Thanks this. -
No you are. .04 at all times except in a cmv then it is zero tolerance we are held to a higher standard
-
Sweet another bar win! I wont bother trying to convice you im right. Just call the dot and you will learn im right. Cant tell you how many free beers i have got off this one
-
Show me in the regs and I'll believe you
-
i cant. It doest exsist. I cant prove a negitive. Give me the reg that says a class driver driving a non class vehicle is bound by regs that dont apply to the vehicle. You dont follow hos in a car do you? I mean really. CALL the government like i did. Pilots dont follow a zero in there car. It is .04 by law, any company may choose to enforce zero and all basicly do. But for dui it is .04 or impaired, dont mean you wont get fierd, just means you might not get a dui. Aw man you got me tring to convice you oh well agree to disagree till you call.

I would love to be corrected I'll look for the reg that shows it the way I was told
-
I see your from wi, ever listen to the half ### morning show out of mpls? Ask a trooper with roski had it, i asked a trooper at a bar. And finaly i callex the fed motor carier safty people and asked directly. It is one of the most commonly held misconceptions about the .04 rule i wont bother posting internet stuff about it due to the fact that there is no way to validate anything i might post. The regs are written and read as any person holding a cdl while oporating a cmv is bound by .04 or there states limit wichever is lower while operating a cmv. The important phrase is "while driving a cmv" btw sorry to the op for hijacking this thread , was not my intent

Here is what I found I copy and pasted from another site the link wouldn't work I guess there is room for interpretation but your in trouble either way
ACTIONS AGAINST DUI/DWI FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DRIVERS
If you drive a commercial vehicle and hold a commercial driver license (CDL):
Any measurable blood alcohol calls for a fine and 24 hours out of service with license seizure.
The first offense with a BAC between 0.04% and 0.08% entails$150-300 forfeiture, 1 year disqualification (three years if carrying hazardous material at the time of the violation) with license seizure for 24 hours. One can obtain a class D/M occupational license after 15 days.
A second offense will result in lifelong disqualification together with 5 days to 6 months in jail and a fine of $300-1000.
Apart from these actions, penalties mentioned above for drivers over 21, may also apply to commercial drivers for their first and second offenses of OUI/OWI. The other penalties do not apply since they are barred after the second offense.
There are additional penalties if death or injury is caused while Operating Under the Influence.
