are the tools from this manufacturer overpriced or are they worth the cost?? particularly the Milton 552 tire inflator kit with glad hand? I seen a different brand at the truck stop for $40
or even the Milton 693 Chuck or milton 951 guage?

For as much as I have used it the truck stop glad hand air line has been just fine for me. You really only need it when you are in BFE without an air line.
-
the difference may be in quality, starting out the truckstop brand is fine, its not like you are running a tire shop with it.
-
I did not see the basic glad-hand inflator w/ 50' hose on the web page that you need. Don't need a "regulator" and the prices did seem awfully high. A truck stop or amazon
This is all you need insofar as tire inflation tools, besides a good gauge with a straight forward and angled reverse chuck (don't get a gauge that is angled going forward)
Good ..
Bad

how much u paid lol everything is OVERpriced in the TRUCKING business..

You could make your own. I've used mine a couple times. It is nice to have but I generally check my pressure while fueling and add any there if necessary.
CougFan Thanks this. -
Milton has been making that stuff for many years and are considered good quality.

Milton's a quality brand, but, as said before, you're not running a tire shop. If it benefits you to buy high end items, by all means. But I don't really it would here.
By the way, those ones with the built-in gauge which displays when you let off the lever.... you don't want those. Go with a separate chuck and gauge.
What I did... I got 50 feet of air line, I bought air couplers... there's usually a fitting or a means to screw on a fitting on the wet tank... don't remember where I got the air line from, but I remember it was a place which would cut the line to length.. the connectors/couplers, I bought at Harbor Freight. And, if I ever wanted to hook it to the trailer emergency air via glad hand (which I didn't), then all I really had to go was get a glad hand, thread a 1/4" to 1/2" pipe adapter into it, put a female end on the 1/4" side, and I could use it all the same. Plus, having a 1/4" quick connect on the other end of the hose allowed me to use attachments other than just an air chuck... I use it for some air tools, as well.skellr Thanks this. -
Most of the truck stop hoses are a plastic type. In Chicago winters the hose was all soft when I pulled it out of the cab, after driving an hour to the rail yard to hook to a trailer with a flat.
But in the time it took to fill the trailer tire the hose turned almost rock hard! It felt like it was going to crack when I coiled it back up to get it in the storage area.
Get a good rubber hose, a gladhand connector and a straight/reverse angled chuck. Just use your regular tire gauge.
Harbor freight:
Rubber hose $25.99
Air tool connect kit $7.49 (cheap in price and quality)
Or
Iowa 80
50' hose, glad hand and air chuck all for $39.99 before shipping

All tools are a waste of money, until you need them.
