What is the best city to live in Australia as a driver? Is the highway and truck stop network as well developed as in the states?

I just moved here from Canada and had no problem finding work... Although the neighbor is an o/o and it helped me get my foot in the door..

There is no work visa for trucking, currently. It comes off and on the skilled trade visa list.

I transferred my Class 1 to an HC (Heavy Combination) licence with just a written test and a short road test. I will be going for my MC which allows me to pull road trains eventually, but the demand for that doesn't seem very high here on the Sunshine Coast.

Sorry to bump again. Canadian here interested in trucking in 'Straya, curious what route guys take to moving there? Working holiday seems alright other than not being able to work for the same outfit longer than 6 months.

Bloke i'd love to see how you'd do 6000 km per week seeing how the max is 72 hours per week @ 12 hours per day maybe i'm wrong however i do agree on the cost of living are extremely high especially in the capital cities fuel is ridiculously high priced we're paying around $1.25 - $1.35 per litre that's pure highway robbery. When you consider the current wholesale price for unleaded fuel is only $1.50 per US gallon thats a huge mark up.

    LoudOne Thanks this.
