My next truck will be a 4500 or 5500. The 3500 is to small and an FL80 will eat you alive. I am very careful in how I load my trailer. To much weight forward will overload the rear axle and not enough causes other problems. If you have not bought a truck then buy a 4500/5500 and avoid the urge to put a bed on it. With a bed you are limited to 65' overall and with out a bed you are considered a tractor with no length limit (with in reason). I work with a dispatch service that has been very helpful teaching a newbie. Buy enough trailer, 40' 25,000# and don't load it to the max either. These guys don't like to excede 15,000#, less wear and tear on the equipment.

I have an 08 F450 6.4. It pulls like a horse, but suffers dearly at the pump. Love the truck, but it is a thirsty beast and has the crappy emissions stuff too.

It has a B&W gooseneck hitch with a 5th wheel companion.

    How?

I have one and it costs less to run than anything smaller, even a Ram 3500 that I used to have.
