Maybe you should see if you could work for John S. who has 10-12 Petes leased on with Wylie. Can run 70mph in those too. Just a thought Reddove. When I worked for him went to Houston all the time from Chicago. Might work for you.

That's why I picked regional. My hands freeze too easily in A/C, so I know I'm a goner in -20 below. Tarps are heavy, but they blow away so easily in the wind. If I survive a year doing this then I know I'm tough enough. I bet Flatbed has a higher turnover rate even for the really good companies.

05/07/14-My first over sized permit load. I wasn't expecting this so soon. It was reel spools. They were about 2 feet wider than the trailer. I had five of them. Nobody, even the shipper knew how much each of the spools weigh only that they weren't more than legal all together. So I put 2 chains on each spool, and then used straps for the bases of the spools that overlapped each other. It took me a long while to do. I was a little mad when I finally scaled the load and found out my gross weight was 45,020. The spools weighed almost nothing! So my securement ended up being overkill. Oh well. I had to drive from near OK, city to Baytown Texas. Even with bad weather, I made it within an hour of Houston. I can't drive in the dark, or through Houston from 6-9, so I to wait about an hour after my break before I can leave. I should make it to the customer for delivery. Driving the load wasn't too bad, people mostly stayed out my way.lol

05/19/14-Oil Pump ranger. The last three loads I had was nothing but oil pumps. Which I don't mind because I get practice strapping them. This last load I had it rained terribly, the truck leaked. The carpet in the sleeper was soaked. Two days later my truck had a weird smell that became an odor that smelled like human waste. Not wet carpet. But human waste. I washed all my clothes and sprayed Lysol on the carpet until it was soaked. That killed the smell a little until I got my next load of oil pump going to New Mexico. Since I was going through San Antonio, I went home and got the professional carpet cleaning stuff and 4 small boxes of baking soda and started scrubbing. Two hours later I got the smell out. At the humble yard I just happened to catch the truck detailing guy. I told him what happened. He did some additional cleaning and vacuumed up the excess water. He told me to put the floor heater vent on full blast to help dry the carpet faster. And he gave me some carpet spray. The carpet is dry and the smell is gone. I'll find out if it's completely gone once it rains again...
After that I went to deliver my NM load. While I was inspecting my trailer I find out most of the lights don't work and a mudflap was missing. I took the trailer to a TA and about 3 hours later they fixed everything. That bill was $200+. I'm glad I'm not paying for it. Then this morning I discovered a large bald spot on the trailer tire. Sigh. I manage to deliver my load on time only due to the fact that NM is an hour behind. I'm now going to pick up a load of salt. I think I'm going to see my first "real" check this week. But I wonder, what in the world would make a wet carpet smell like that? Mildew at it's worse don't smell like that carpet did. I know one thing though I'm not walking barefoot on it...
