Why not just put those side by side between load bars?

it is done that way, also to forward "dunnage" hahaha. no clue who you work for mack. if you look closely at the dunnage its brotherly love for the next recipient. think of a pigeon with note, when it gets obvious in the dumpster it goes

Most of our p/d guys go out with a set almost daily. Ive had to build and break sets in strange places before. A while back i had to break my set of emptys on a dirt shoulder on a dead end road and load 20k of phone books in each one out of a storage unit, then rebuild the set on the other side of the roads muddy shoulder

So one is a KW, one of the other three is probably a Volvo. Fair to assume that the remaining two bronze keys are some form of P&D lock that none of us use.

The skids were weird, too wide to put side by side and no way to get forks under them from the side without seriously damaging the skid. I've hauled cement like this in my OTR days...trust me it wouldn't have moved unless that truck was on it's side. I guess the previous terminal manager was crazy about securing the load. It's funny though our night supervisor is a casual and when our more experienced drivers come in and help load their trucks she will mention tieing this or bagging that and he will say no it's fine and she just says ok.

As for dunnage, yeah a crapload of it goes out on friday night lol. We are a small terminal, only 11 doors so there's not much room on the dock. I don't do morning inbound unloads, but I see what we get, though we never seem to have enough tables. I load for carlisle, dayton, and greensburg so if you get those coming out of altoona I probably helped load it.

    Oh BTW, I wasn't complaining, I was ranting ;-)

    Hahaha it's all good.

I've never ventured to carlisle or the dayton shops, our shop steward runs to dayton and the other fella runs to carlisle. no doubt those shops get forward our excessive dunnage lol
we hear about it weekly from those drivers "why the heck did yins build a fort in front of the U-pack" same answer to the same question every time lol

We are also a super small terminal.

The Management at ABF is easy to work with at this location. Unlike UPSF, it was a Us vs Them attitude. Supervisors was a revolving door looks good on resume.

Well I'll be joining the city crowd in a few weeks. Not looking forward to the city work but gonna love the normal hours again. Due to personal reasona I'm leaving UPSF, also they are moving the terminal further away. I was trying to get out of the industry altogether but was having a hard time so I took a position with another carrier. UPSF is becoming just as strict if not stricter than CWF as a lot of higher ups who worked for CWF are coming over. Also I asked for the city position as my line Haul rub is killing me. We got 2 open but won't allow me to switch over.

The carrier I'm going too (until further notice won't be posted) offers a sweet pension and everything. Its a regional carrier and pays less then the bigger LTLs but from what I heard from everyone management does not bother you if your doing your job which isn't a problem for me as I like doing honest days work.

And yes I tried going back to YRC but never heard back from the place I applied. I could easily return to my old terminal but its 120 miles away and soonim buying my dads house so I don't want to do that. YRC was THE BEST job I had and kicking myself for not transferring home

Andy we had pretty much the same time in with UPSF. What a fricking roller coaster life experience it was/ is. maybe if we were molded from ups from day 1. we would sing a different song.

Have fun brother and sometimes it is greener on the other side of fence.

Leaving YRC to go there the grass wasn't greener. YRC was fairly laid back and would normally get what I wanted. I still tell the other guys that they have it good compared to most and they don't want to hear it. All they say is UPSF is the highest paid and not going anywhere. Which is true but as you know shaggy the stress isn't worth it. I've never been more stressed out by a job, starting to wonder if it's just as bad as CWF. THEY WORK US TILL WE DIE NORMALLY.

Everything sucked, It wasn't for me thats for sure. Bunch of cry babies and numerous other petty stupid crap from everyone involved, Then again I pretty much worked with former overnight to day 1 of being a adult UPS molded coworkers. No doubt it's a tough job, The constant petty crap can do without. Drama job, never seen anything like it.
