I hear Kenworths and Peterbilts are better than Freightshakers (well, the older ones... sounds like the new Pete's are similar to Crapcadias).
For me, it's all about the comfort of the truck. My Evo bounces around like a basketball and doesn't have the creature comforts the 780's have.
I hear some Crapcadias have air ride steers now, but I highly doubt they'll match a Volvo for riding comfort.
Bad news for manual lovers

I hear those Volvo's ride good too but, the thing I notice about those there Volvo's is they always have pieces coming off or missing...
What you driving to get 7.3mpg with hammer down? -
Volvos don't break down any more than Freightshakers, it's just more noticeable when they do due to the lack of service centers. Fortunately, the brand's growing popularity is resulting in more service centers.SheepDog Thanks this. -

My problem isn't with those wishing to drive an automatic. My problem is the kids coming in sponsored by swift, training with nothing but automatics because it's easier. Learning to drive a manual is/should be part of the training process or their future with other companies would be severely limited.
As for the mileage issue, swift isn't exactly made up of the most skilled drivers in the industry. So let's make them even less skilled by making everything as easy as possible? The hand/foot coordination necessary to drive a stick properly and efficiently will be lacking.
Like it or not, the n00bz looking to advance their careers after driving for swift for a year with no experience driving manual transmissions will be a problem for prospective employers down the road.SheepDog Thanks this. -
What I always tell people is that to me it doesn't make sense to drive a big rig or big piece of equipment with an auto. Big rigs or equipment needs more attention while driving and I believe that the manufacturers are making these big rigs too comfortable. By making them too comfortable like a caddy, in my opinion, is causing drivers to loose focus on what they should be doing while driving a big rig. Also, causing more sleepiness because they are riding in a Caddy Rig. Now this opinion does not apply to veterans, who have created long lasting habits but to those noobs.

I will stick to my previous statement about Volvo's... I have driven Freightliners for 6 years and I have never seen any, where the body parts were just falling off, unless damaged by the driver running into something. But I have seen plenty of Volvo's running down the road with body parts just hanging, or missing, or shaking so bad they look like they will fall off. The outside of a Volvo, in my opinion, looks chinsy. Not very well put together. I know Freightliners are not as great as Pete's or KW"s but I believe they are better than Volvo's in that respect. -
I've been driving for ten years and there's nothing wrong with my knees, dad been at it almost 30 and he's fine also.x#1 Thanks this. -
When you put 1,000,000 on those volvos with the auto, come talk to me. If you still have it that is.
