you find good and bad trainers in most of the companies but yeah 6months to 1 year just isnt enough. I was lucky to get a really great trainer, he actually started out with CRST but left that company after 4 months since he found it was crap...he then went to Swift and has been there almost 8 years, I know recently he decided to take a break from training though but he trained for over 5 years. You get the ones just looking to make more money in all the companies, its just the way it is. I have been told CRE is even worse and requires only a couple months to train....heck im still learning new stuff even to this day...

CRST pays by the mile in training and there will be many things out of your control...trucks breaking down for one. I made 900 in 3 mo during training. Prime and Swift are in the Midwest and pay by the week during training. CRST will be dishonest also if it suits them and you will have very little recourse. Other truckers think CRST is a joke. There is a reason for that.

Driving is driving. If you need a trainer going forward on flat ground, you shouldn't be doing this. Your trainer will mostly teach you the work part of the job and hills. Bad weather and backing take experience. A 20 year driver taught me less about backing than someone who only got a cdl for a job and rarely pulls a trailer. It's all up to just knowing what to do and being able to explain it.

Your lead driver is more for teaching you to be a truck driver, and not how to drive

But good luck, there's a reason that the day or contacts are done and we can quit was the greatest day of our lives

actually Swift pays by the hour these days not by the week, its minimum wage of your state for on duty and minimum plus $1 for driving. Depending how well you run with the trainer you can make more than the old weekly amount.
