Yes people mess up , but that "once upon a time outlaw " azzhat is full of himself.

 

Being a CEO doesn't automatically imply impeccable character, as some of the commenters here seem to assume.

Randy Marten tends to give himself away in his company's own truck stop brochure. It doesn't take a genius to read between the lines of the following passages from it:

"He's motivated by fear of failure. 'My biggest fear is being the kid that lost his dad's business,' Randy stated."

"Randy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, but said he received his MBA from his father. 'That's [sic] stands for Major Boot in the [expletive deleted],' Randy quipped."

"As a youngster, Randy raced Motocross, and was excited to see his dad after finishing in second place in his first race. His father, who began riding Harleys back in the 1940s, greeted Randy with 'congratulations on being the first loser' -- and walked away."

"It was Arlen Ness who suggested to Marten that he began [sic] to build his own bikes like the one pictured at the beginning of this article. To say that Randy took Ness' advice to heart would be an understatement. To date, he has built more than a dozen custom bikes, and he calls the process his 'therapy.'"

"Marten describes himself as intense and says he is as hard on himself as he is on everyone else. 'I never stop looking for perfection,' he stated. 'Just OK isn't good enough and it will not distance you from everyone else. Mistakes do not happen to the best.'"

Sure, everyone's got problems, but not everyone heads a large transportation firm on the NASDAQ. Any driver who's uninformed and/or self-disrespecting enough to hire on with Marten Transport in the year 2014, deserves what they get there.

I can tell you. It's not even a power thing as most would think. You're in a position to see what kinds of idiots are coming into trucking right now. And what some have done to this industry. Some people are just tired of it. And that same deal would certainly be felt by the owner of the company.
