Can I be a Truck Driver or No?

Just apply and let the company or companies decide wether they will or wont hire you..trust me there are alot of drivers hiding in cmv's hiding taking all kinda **** that if their company knew they more then likely would let them go or wouldnt hire them...every driver gets that episode when they have that pick up or delivery into nyc or 1 of the islands...lmao.....just try

 

Werner, Swift, US Express, Heartland, they would hire you in a minute....your no worse off than their other drivers.

 

Probably a requirement for employment ...

 

Eh, sounds like your not mentally stable enough to do anything other than local so you can keep seeing your Dr. But even then, you punched a senior citizen beacuase you were paranoid? DUDE! I get that you have a legit condition and I feel for ya, but you need to get that stuff straightened out before you take a job working with customers. Condition or not, you need to consider possible consequences to your actions, If I saw a younger guy punch a senior citizen, well, let's just say it wouldn't end well for you.

To the OP, I would say no. You may be stable and it seems to be a good goal to try for but there are limitations with your condition that you have to face. You may not be able to control your episodes or have to be taken off the road (sit in a hotel or sleeper) for a couple days which makes you unreliable for a company that is there to serve customer's demands.

This is also not a case of discrimination, which was brought up on another forum a couple days ago, we are regulated by the feds, there are exemptions involved and the ADA really doesn't apply to a lot of situations as it does outside of trucking.

Having a history of mental health issues as well as being on medication will disqualify you from obtaining a cdl.

 

You sound like that you have the qualifications to be an excellent dispatcher
