Stay Away from Marten Trucking

I worked for Marten and they never told me "we don't run toll road". Marten doesn't use prepass or ezpass but you the driver can aquire one of these units. Which is what I did. I know what about all of the costs. You can get these units free they just cost when you use them.

 

So you can put an ezpass in your truck and pay the tolls for Marten?
Don't they reimburse you or does it come out of your pocket? It sure
isn't free if your paying the toll is it.

 

I was all set to call shenanigans on the OP about that note until I did a Google search on Randy Marten. This guy has some superiority issues and after reading this article I'm sure that were facilitated by the relationship he had with his father.

In a 2008 post on this thread here in this forum, this poster stated: "My husband and I are currently with Marten Transport, we have been with Marten for more than 5 years. My husband was involved in an accident this week in bad weather. He has a clean driving record and has not had an accident in more than 10 years until this. Randy Marten had the nerve to leave a message on his cell phone at 10pm at night. He did not ask if my husband was ok, or if anyone else was injured; all he wanted to do was cut my husband down. He let my husband know that he did not think he was much of a professional driver, that my husband had cost him money. When my husband called him back the next day to explain how the accident had happened, that other trucks, including a Marten truck, had either been involved or had witnessed the accident, "Mr. Randy Marten" basically accused my husband of lying to cover his butt and reiterated that all Randy was worried about was his loss."

On another website I found this testimonial: "I am a former driver for Marten Transport. I was employed by them for one year and was terminated after having a accident. This company fired me and I was forced to clean the truck out and take a Greyhound bus back home. After arriving home I received a hand written letter in the mail signed by the owner Randy Marten. In this letter he calls me a bunch of names. I would like anyone thinking about driving for Marten to Beware."

I thought it was odd and somewhat unbelievable that a CEO of a company as large as Martens would take the time to call or write an employee after their termination of employment simply to chide them and be as childish as to "get in the last word", but after reading all these complaints against him, I have no doubt that he does engage in this foolish behavior.

Of course, I would almost expect that kind of behavior from a guy who spends tens of thousands of dollars to travel around the globe and kill exotic animals for the "thrill" of it.

 

Here's another complaint where Randy Marten personally called a driver who had been involved in a minor accident:

"My time ended week ago when for the first time in thirteen years i had a minor fender bender with a four wheeler. No damage to the truck just the rear bumper of the car i hit. I aggrivated an old back injury with the sudden stop. I was terminated 2 hours later which i expected. I was told i had to pay myself to ser a doctor but they would pay for a required drug test. A week later while on pain meds for my back pain, I received a surprise call from Randy Marten himself. He said why dont I pay for the damage to the other persons car and that he was sick of all us drivers GD BS claims. Not so much as a how are you doing or did I need any further medical help. For a man worth millions, I wonder why he would bother with little old me. Im doing better so ill be moving on. I let Randy know he could keep his money as I dont need nor beg for hand outs."

 

Sounds like Randy needs to get out of trucking.

Yeah...I saw that one too. I'm surprised that no one on this forum has posted about that.

 

It also helped that he rode in on the coattails of his daddy.
