I have a cb stored under my bed because i was smart enough to wait for a good rain and sure enough, my truck leaks right where my cb would be sitting if i had it in my truck. It doesn't mean i don't care. It means my crappy carrier gave me a crappy truck and I don't want to fry my personal equipment. Great insight though

I think a lot of truckers ignore the CB because of all the crap being talked on there.
Its worse than a school yard.

The only way it will ever be used properly is if it is recorded, like a black box flight recorder.
Truckers expect to be regarded as professional and yet most of the stuff i hear on CB is filth.

If they become accountable, by having their conversations recorded as evidence, they will become professional drivers.

Trailer lights are part of the pre-trip inspection but nobody has ever invented a way of checking brake lights.
Unless you are driving team, when one can apply the brake while the other watches for the lights, there is no way of checking.

    Someone invent a gadget please : )

In my Intl Prostar, if I hold the Work Light button down for 5 or 10 seconds, the truck will light up and cycle through all the lights (brakes, signals, running lamps) for two minutes or until it is interrupted.

There is a gadget for holding the brake pedal down, Mechanics use it.
Looks like a home improvement caulking gun (which by the way would work also), you put it between the seat and and pedal and ratchet or squeeze the handle to extend it -i am sure you could cut a small board or old broom stick to do the same.

    Mrs T Thanks this.

If they don't answer I usually give them a hitchhiking thumb followed by a throat slash. That usually gets their attention and gets them thinking. After curiosity kills the cat they finally pull over. :)

Showing my age here but, back in the mid 70's, into the 80's EVERYBODY had CBs,truckers started it then it spread to 4wheelers, bears and all. Lots of home CBers especially along the interstates. Even became available in new cars, I know, we bought a new Buick in about '84, had CB from GM.

Not all 4 wheelers don't have a CB. I say this because I drive one and have one in my car. The easiest way you can tell the 4 wheeler has one is by the antenna. I have truckers in my family and friends and always try to help truckers letting them know where the speed cops are at.

Volvo has a similar pre trip feature but it doesn't seem to be activated in our trucks
