It's best if you live in DFW area. Guys in other states make it work, but it's best to live in DFW.

not hard to do as an oil hauler, and I did not have to go to North Dakota. Have not made 5 years yet though. now throwing chains in the mud sucks...

Sounds like you hit the Lottery almost. What area and job pays 100k plus to work local? I'm guessing if many places did that there wouldn't be very many OTR drivers out here. No use you two comparing apples with oranges. Local and OTR driving fits people in many different ways for many different reasons. He likes apples and you like oranges in that way or whatever. Neither has to be wright or wrong. Luckily both of you seem to like what you do. However a 100k plus might get a lot more drivers to stay home more. Not happening where I live. You're lucky to have it. Take care out there.

Talk to Carla (the lady behind the glass) or Tony for a bobtail pass. There are movie theaters west of there and about every type of food one could want back down off of I20. If you need to do laundry, go back south to Pioneer and go east...there is a place in the little shopping center with the Long John Silvers/A&W(not the one on the corner at Carrier Pkwy) that is cheap and clean (pay for wash, dry for free). Some of us head to the Hutchins Love's or QT to spend the night since they don't have a shower other than the exercise room's locker room.

If you want a motel, the LaQuinta that you stayed in for orientation give us a discount (still ain't cheap) or JD says the Quality i
Inn west of 161 on I20 gives Poly drivers a discount.

    Mev Thanks this.

Outbound called while I was checking in at my backhaul shipper...and I had my phone, but left the bluetooth in the truck...but that far away it still had a connection...anyway, I got it to disconnect and got to hear another looooong list of outbound loads for Sunday. Lotsa N/E, many CO's, IN's, IL's and the load I picked, my new home-away-from-home, Bloomington, MN. Del's 1st thing Tuesday. To steal JD's line..."I love my job"

Kind of sounds like I'll be stuck in GP all weekend if they are on Sunday loads already. Can't get on the board til I check with the shop about a oil change. Delivering at USA Pallet about 10 miles from the yard.

I'm due for p.m. as well. Beeped Tommy's cell about bumping mileage out, haven't heard back yet. Heard we're short on loaners so it's bump it out or change it since I am under a load.

I did earlier this week. Since it was too early for one the last time here. Now I'm over. I called Tuesday and never heard back. Do they due PM's over the weekend? First time for me getting one done here.
