options for truck?

    Long story short, my father hit me up today saying he's going to retire this december. He is an owner op that works out of the port here in los angeles. His truck is good until 2020 for the ports. His truck payment is 1450 a month but will be paid off come May 2015.

    I have been driving for over 2 years but I just got promoted recently to fleet manager for jb.

    I don't plan to drive the truck, how should I run it? My buddy is an owner op with his authority, should i have him run it for a cut or get my own authority.

    My father says he has connections as well.

    Is it wise having someone else drive or should I drive it myself (like I said I dont really want to but will do whatever it takes to be successful). Im even thinking of leasing it to jb...thoughts? ThNks

    Lease it to JB so that you will have first hand experience of what O/O's get at JB.
    After you've had enough and if you're still in business, you can lease to a better paying company or get your own authority.

    If you lease go with a company that pay percentage. millage is a ripoff. you just have to watch your deadhead. Percentage is only paid on loaded miles. but if you do things right you will make a hell of alot more money. 75% or better. find one that doesn't charge for trailer and freight insurance.
