Thanks Briarhopper and Chinatown. I was considering US xpress by after you are out 4 weeks with a trainer you have to team drive with another new guy for 8 weeks MANDATORY. I don't know if I wan to to trust a new driver who I don't know driving while I am asleep.
Western Express for 1 year experience?

I teamed briefly just to help the company when a new customer needed some loads fast; Tennessee to Seattle. The guy is a good friend, but neither of us liked it at all. You lose a lot of freedom such as stopping for a cup of coffee or a brief nap in a rest area or a restroom break; it disturbs the other driver. Next thing is you're on each others nerves. It didn't bother us too much because we new it was just for a couple weeks & could opt out at any time.
Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
Yeah I can see how even stopping to get a nap would really bother the other driver. I know team driving isn't for me either. Driving with a trainer is fine but after that I am SOLO!

Getting good training should be your number 1 priority even though it's not fun being in a truck with somebody and making less money. -

I can tell you Crete will have you training for two months with a trainer that has at least 3+ years experience.
You'll be at $500 a week and then .34-.35 after that depending on with you want to do van or reefer.
I'd stay away from companies that pay garbage and/or many say bad things about.
Even as a student you there good companies out there. -
Cargo Transporters has an excellent reputation, but the training is 8 weeks. Probably worth looking at, but 8 wks. would be too much for me. Anyone with even normal intelligence only needs 1 or 2 weeks at most.
[h=3]Student Driver Program[/h]Cargo Transporters has a strong Student Driver Program. With a Diploma or Certification from an approved Truck Driver Training School, we pair the Apprentice driver with a Trainer for a paid, on-the-job eight week training period.Wild Murphy and T_TRUCKER⢠Thank this. -
I appreciate everyone's advice. I am going to look at companies with better reputations than Western Express. There are just too many bad things said about them.

remember to check the CSA scores of whomever you considerWild Murphy Thanks this. -
Roehl had me in the truck for 11 days, and yes that's all I needed. I felt fine and confident with my driving skill at that point to be tossed to the wolves, but I wouldn't recommend Roehl as a starter. My exp towards the end only brought me home with 300+ wkly and LOW LOW miles. If you could find a SMALL company with a good reputation that will be your best bet. I'm tellin you, all these mega company's ARE THE SAME. Different name on the trailer, that's it. Find yourself something smaller where they know you by name. Also the pay & miles tend to be ALOT better. Just my advice. Gooduck and stay safe.
Wild Murphy Thanks this.
