I can tell you that if you quit while under dispatch, they can record that on your DAC, which obviously will not look good on you to the next one. They also can record the fact that you did not return your truck if that's the case.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely give it, as that was never in question, just curious to how it's worked out for y'all.

They have no choice but to honor it. Make sure it's given in writing though, with a way to confirm it's delivery. (email to manager, qualcomm message is your best choice since qualcomm keeps a record and it can't suddenly disappear. One that 2 weeks is up, you don't have to move that truck, you quit, with notice. It's their fault for not getting you to a terminal (within reason, if they're giving you loads on route to your closest home terminal, you're going to be abandoning the load. Make sure you communicate, but if it's the day you quit, and you live in NJ, but you just got sent a load from PA to WA, just say no, and ask if they want you to return the truck or just leave it). Just be ready to pay for a cab/plane if you decide to refuse to drive. Nobody can force you to do anything.

And hopefully you have a second job already lined up if you're giving notice.

I figure it is only right to give notice people sometimes feel the need to do other things to try to better themselves in life and I wish them luck but I personally will not hire a guy that walks like that and in my business it is a small world
As to the other question yes I would give my employees notice if they were going to be out of a job but firing is a different matter it uselessly means they have screwed up beyond repair

Give the 2 weeks like a professional should do - whatever they do is up to them, but live up to your end of the obligation.

My last 2 employers honored it, but the prior one did not. It doesn't matter, though, if you have your ducks in a row.

Write a professional written letter and cc hireright on it. Show them you mean business and that you are forwarding a copy to hireright.

I said but I live near Lakeland terminal. They said your gonna ride a bus home. I said I have too much stuff in truck. They said sorry. I said we'll get me home this weekend for home time and I'll stay. They got me to Lakeland I bob tailed home took my stuff out. Bob tailed back to Lakeland and sent my message to dm and handed keys to security
