I just stopped to take my DOT break down here in
Texas. Before I backed into a parking space I got
out and manually closed both of the wings on the
rear of the trailer. When I did my post trip walk around I noticed both of them had opened again.
First time I pulled a trailer with these wings so I am rather confused by this. They are not supposed to open when your backing up, only when you are moving forward and reach 35 mph are they supposed to open. I am 100% certain they where attached to the bolts that are supposed to lock them in place. This is a brand
new trailer so maybe they are not installed the correct way. These things look like trouble to me. -
As s matter of fact as I was sitting here typing out
that last msg, they deployed again. When I got back in my truck the light was on indicating the bat wings where closed. After I finished typing my first msg I noticed the light was off which indicates the wings are opened. I got out and checked them. They where open again. This technology is garbage. -
Did you get a lemon?
-
I just closed them again and the light came on
that says they are secured. I will keep you all updated.LOL -
Is the both that they are secured to leaning out at the bottom a little
-
I havent been back in my truck for 5 min and the
light went off. I just checked and they are open again. I can tell you right now these things are an accident waiting to happen. -
Unplug the pigtail.. there is a short in the system.. make sure you let the shop know
Air Breeze Thanks this. -
Yes the bolts on both doors lean out slightly on the bottom. The Brackets on the doors are bent slightly up that the bokts are attached to. They look like they are installed correctly to me. They lock the wings in place when they are closed. It looks like an electrical problem to me. The.latches
are wired to the trailer and that goes to your truck thru the pigtail. Its got some kind of glitch in the wiring or the CM most likely. I will let them know on Monday that its malfunctioning. -
Well I hope they never decide to install ejection
seats in these trucks.
