How many regret getting into trucking?

I started at 56, ran e-logs with Central and Gordon, didn't like the east coast,went regional west coast with Gordon,then to Indian River on paper logs,west coast-took me 3 tries to find a company I'm comfortable with

 

And, THAT'S the God's honest truth now, isn't it?

 

No regrets here either.

Good company in Zephyrhills; Heyl Truck Lines. Need 6 mos. experience; something to think about for later. They have OTR and local jobs.

Finish CDL school, then get some refrigerated trucking experience for 6 months, then switch to Heyl.

Tons of refrigerated companies in Florida will hire you right out of CDL school.

 

Yo' I now live in Az. I've had the opportunity to drive for afew co's. Go to Sun State carriers in Tavares,Fl. They haul a lot of citrus north and most times your return trips will find you coming in late fri with delivery Monday morn giving you time at home. They're a small co running reefers with one terminal. Go for it.

 

For the work itself, I don't regret it.
After realizing how much of the industry is just fat whiners, and knowing everyone is comparing me to them, yeah, totally regret it.

 

I may be the least experienced here but I can tell you, trucking isn't as bad as what you read about on the internet. I'm like you, my former industry left me. If I would have listened to the whining I read I never would have started this. You will hear " it's not what it use to he" I wasn't there back then but I'm sure there's truth to it. Then again. What is as good sati use to be? Wages are lower pretty much across the board. If your personality fits this life style you may like it. By the way, with phony disability claims going through the roof a commend anyone that wants to make an honest living. Good luck.

Looks pretty good for frequent home time. Need a passport for runs to Canada.

 

Definitely not a one size fits all Industry. Being happy with it is the key (as it is in most industries). Good Luck!
