The most I would do is call Mr. David and tell him you know he's a liar. The first sign that he was lying was that he contacted you before the Lab did. The valuable lesson here is to never answer a question that hasn't been asked.
2 pages and nobody has mentioned the "D" word? I cannot believe my eyes!

I would suggest you get those negative test results in writing from the doctor and keep them for your records. Did they pay you for the time you worked? If they did go file for unemployment (just make sure you have those written statements from the doctor showing you passed the drug tests). If they contest your claim based on a failed drug test then you have proof to show the state that they are lying. Also, it would be best to have that proof in case it ever shows up on your DAC.

Let me get this correct, during your interrogation, he was not aware of your drug history until later by your own admission it was revealed. Ouch! Chalk this one up for being ignorant to how these companies really are. Unless you have a criminal record involving drugs or violence, I suggest keeping that personal information locked in a bomb shelter.

Rule #1 if you want to hand around in this business,
lie,lie,lie,. -
I honestly would not be upset about working there. I did for 2 months because i couldn't find a local job. Well I was falsely written up for being late on a delivery when I had the BOL and showed it to my fleet manager where it said I was 6 hours early. That among other things told me to get the hell away from big companies, so by the grace of God I found me a home every night tanker job. I find Mcelroy truck lines to be disgustingly deceitful. Count this as a blessing.

I talked to their recruiter once while still in school. I dismissed them after that brief phone discussion. I remember thinking if they're that rude to a potential recruit, I can only imagine how they'd be to an employee. That recruiter lady was/is (assuming she's still there) a piece of work.

Im not sure how AL state laws are for unemployment, but I think your required to be employed for a certain amount of days/months before eligibility for unemployment benefits.
I think the OP needs to be more concerned with making sure they didn't hit his record for any activity there,as he was not hired officially. You usually don't get orientation pay til assigned drivers #,and considered an employee.
Theres a lot of FB companies in the south,so employment wont be a problem.
Good luck OP,and remember you got no buddies in orientation. Its like buying a car from a car salesman. You just want to get out of there, and on the road with some hopes of
making a living. -
Every big trucking company I have worked for pulls the same stunt. During orientation some "nice guy" will pull one or a few guys out, and give them a story about how "Canada has super deep background checks, or hair follicles go back 3 years, or Homeland Sec. will check everything" so bare your soul and will stay just between us guys, because we really want to hire you and just dont want any surprises.
The whole thing is a lie, from beginning to end. What they are looking for are reasons to get rid of you. I have seen more than a few good drivers who were nice guys get shown the door for this.Chinatown Thanks this. -
As was advised earlier get the test results in writing. Forget this episode and move forward.
Whatever you tell your next potential employer happened, do not tell them you were let go because you admitted to drug use even though you tested negative.rda2580 Thanks this. -
The thing about hair testing is it goes back a long way. Your test probably detected prior drug use, just at levels below what the lab flagged as positive. But the carrier can set their own threshold to try and weed out chronic drug users that clean up just long enough to get a job (the types of folks that have a higher risk of relapsing and possibly costing carriers millions in accident lawsuits).
Unfortunately, hair tests are not DOT reportable so you will be able to find employment at another trucking company. Fortunately, McElroy uses DAC so future companies will at least have warning about your prior drug use.
