For the record, the new Mack sucks! There a suped up Volvo. LOL!! Central runs freightliner cascadias, a few volvos, 386 Petes, 587 Petes and 579 Petes. Swift runs cascadias , volvos , a few pro stars and 660 & 680 kenworths. My last truck there before I left was a 587 Pete , that is a nice ride!its nice and big inside and has a lot of storage. Central runs cummins isx15 in most of their trucks except the freight shakers they are Detroit DD15 with a few cummins thrown in for good measures. All are 9 speed convertibles except a few volvos that are automatics. Most of the lease op trucks have had the splitters put in the 9 speed to make it a 13 speed. I have no idea what swift runs but I'm fairly sure it's similar to centrals specs.

Recruiter said i was good but, how bad you think my chances are making it through the training with 0 work experience? just graduated from college and went straight to it from HS. From this little town that only real places to work are fast food and walmart and our unemployment % is high as mess Z.z just worried im going to be wasting my time going up there. but i still want to go, it is my dream to drive otr.

Youll be ok. It's easier to teach someone with no experience than it is to teach someone who can half ##### drive and thinks they're a super trucker. You'll meet several of the latter when you get to school. Watch them while you're there, you'll see. You knowing nothing will probably progress faster than they will. This has almost always been the case in my experience. The last 2 students I had knew nothing about trucking at the start but now are both really good drivers, hell the one was a PE teacher for 10 years and now he's a lease op and really doing good working the kraft dedicated fleet making more in 2 weeks than he made all month teaching kickball. LOL. Remember that Quality is never a mistake, it is always the result of highly intelligent direction and skillful execution !! If you want it bad enough you'll make it, just remember that it's not all peaches and cream, and you'll have off days. go into it with realistic expectations and an open mind willing to learn.

Yeah swift is doing a trial run on the FL autos. The jury is still out on those things , at least that's what the shop mgr in Richmond VA told me shortly before I left. He also told me that they were phasing out centrals peterbilts and going with all KW for their Paccar trucks. Who knows what they'll do, I really don't think they know. they're just flying by the seat of their trousers at this point.

I don't know how the new autos are I've not driven an auto in about 8 years. The older ones really sucked but technology has improved I'm sure. I hope you enjoy your training it can be fun, just make sure you get a trainer/mentor and not just someone who wants another log to run. Don't sale yourself short if your trainer isn't giving you what you need get up with training and get a new trainer. Your training is like the foundation of a house. With a good true foundation you can build a good strong and square house "career" that will stand up to the good and bad times.
