How much experience do you have?

ODFL is right in your neck of the woods.

Can't say they'll take you, but give them a call. Local, home often . . . good luck.

Check Indeed website also and ignore "experience required" and apply anywhere you want. Check Cardinal Logistics website. They want a year experience, but they're also hurting for drivers, so apply anyway.

There are plenty of guys who come into virginia from carolina and pull containers out of the port. Many of the runs go to carolina. I worked with guys who run loads to carolina go to port and get load for next day. Take load home (carolina) deliver in morning and then run empties back to port. Port work has is own drama but home every night weekends off. I pulled containers for ODFL as a OO and their rates are pretty good, but they are strict. It doesn't take much for them to kick you to the curb. You probably can find a owner operator who would be willing to let you drive his truck. There are opportunities out there you have to be patient and look hard. Hampton Roads craiglist has tons of driving jobs, just be careful of scams and do your homework. You can try indeed.com, simplyhired.com and like I've heard in these forums before apply even if they require more experience than you have. I got a 00 to hire me right out of school.
