OK ... The list has narrowed for Company Sponsored CDL

Any input on who to favor on this list would be appreciated ... grazie

    In alphabetical order .....
    1. Con- Way ........ I like the work from dock option, but I haven't contacted for hard core details
    2. Driver's Solutions...... PAM USA - slightly favored over PAM .... I like these because they are regional carriers , and living in Nashville, I would never be far away from home.
    3. Knight - The only thing I don't like about Knight is that the schooling isn't absorbed or set up to pay back . Everything else about this company is awesome The Only Nashville main terminal I have found.
    4. Millis - Atlanta school and terminal - most cost of school absorbed Family atmosphere with smaller class sizes.
    5. Old Dominion - I haven't gathered much about this one yet. ... just heard some good stuff
    6. Prime - perhaps too OTR for me. I can't be out for a month at a time
    7. Roehl I Love this outfit. Atlanta main terminal (close enough, I think)
    8. Swift / Central Another great outfit. Memphis / Atlanta main Terminals Memphis school

OD does seem to be a great outfit. There is a dock here in Nashville, also. ... Not sure if it's a main terminal

All will be answered when I start calling the recruiters.

    Still scouting at this point

    Thanks, guys

I would recommend Prime out of that list. I think your info about driver's solutions might be incorrect. I am 98.99% sure they are otr and not regional.

The only thing I remember about Knight was they were slow when it came to the application process. They wanted you to have your permit in hand already before you went to training and it would take them a few weeks to get back to you about your application once you had your permit.

Prime is who I work for now. I went through CRST and wouldn't recommend that company even to my worst enemy. If I had known about Prime before hand I would have gladly gone with them! Prime really does a nice one on one approach to there training program. You get paid $600 a week minimum while in training. They treat you like family and are very much driver focused.

Most training companies are going to be an otr type of work for the first year and the norm is 1 day off for every week out minimum 3 weeks. Prime will also cover the cost of training since it's all in house. And for you the Springfield terminal isn't that far from Nashville.

Hope that helps some. If you are really interested in Prime, look through the Prime forum on here about training and what the first year is like.

OD is the best but they do not train...

Millis or roehl are the only 2 on your list that i would recommend..

Sign up for dock work with ODFL Nashville and go from there. Do it now. Your CDL can follow and they'll probably know what schools they don't like. Maybe there's a community college option nearby and if so, ODFL will probably know and will encourage you to go if they like the program.

Hey! OD hires whenever they need more help and know what they want. Dock work is easy start. You'll meet people, including drivers, and ODFL will get to know you.

Prime over OLDF? I guess some folks don't get out much. Do exactly what Victor suggested. After 34 years of this, knowing what I know now, if I had to start all over again, it would be one of the LTL companies, on the dock, at night and laugh all the way to the bank. Wait, we have direct deposit, I'll laugh at Prime and all the other OTR companies as I check my balance in my checking account every week on my smartphone.
