NYC is great!! ..dropped a load at Jetro C&c in brooklyn...easiest money ever..sat there watched tv on computer all day...got paid NYC premium, extreme detention c$sh only drove like 200 miles!!..I would do that all day every day for the money. Then again I've driven 26ft box trucks all over NYC deliveries etc so I know how to get around, what to avoid and better routes that truck gps and still legal....timing is key with NYC, once you get your timing down you will never have a problem!

I don't know why they don't just take that sh$t down and quit needlessly scaring the out of towners. There's a good chance you really would get yourself in trouble if you got off at Atlantic Ave as the sign says you're supposed to. I guess the intention is to get trucks to run across Atlantic to the Van Wyck but a much better idea is to just stay on 278 east to 495/LIE. I usually just stay in the far left lane and ride the yellow line until past the Brooklyn Bridge exit.

Yeah That's an easy one. The one in College Point isn't too bad either. Used to go there every week.

Yes. You can run Atlantic all the way to 678/Van Wyck with 13'6". The only low spot you have to dodge is the very begining of the LIRR elevated tracks just past Bedford Ave. you'll see a low clearance sign as you come around the bend (12'8" I believe), but you're fine in the right lane.

The biggest thing is lanes that are literally only 8 foot wide, if that, and in very congested situations almost anywhere you go. One second of moving 3 inches too far from center as you're trying to read other signage, and you've clipped somebody. It is a "kill or be killed" mentality that is highly prevalent there among motorists. Don't expect many of the locals to "be friendly and help you out of a jam", because it's very doubtful any will.

Not a place for day-dreamers or those who otherwise are easily distracted.

    Westside Foods, Hunts Point ...
Anybody know anything about this place? Looking at a meat load preplan (stop 1 of 2) and it indicates Sunday 08:00-16:00 which I take to mean either they haven't set the appt yet or it's FCFS. Does FCFS on Sundays sound right to anybody? Sunday morning would be great then up to Portland, ME for final Monday AM

And what is the best way to pick up 95 NORTH towards New England from Hunt's Point? Is that route well marked?

That sounds spot on. Get in as early as you can, you can park at the market, and check in as early as you can. Call them to find out when is the earliest. And 95 is very well marked coming out. Don't forget to go around Rhode Island is that bridge still has a restriction on it around the 27.

West side is in the co op mkt,,,,,,,http://www.huntspointcoopmkt.com/
I have never known the gate to close--so get there when you want--go out back and camp--and head over(walk)to West Side in the am.....
As for going back to 95...lv the market--go back to Bruckner Blvd(same way you came in)make a right and go STRAIGHT--bruckner blvd--will merge w/the bruckner Expresway(I278---once you cross the drawbridge...then 278 will just run you right on to 95North--its a straight shot...
Now as for going to Portland....
IMHO--it is easier to run 95-to 91(at new haven--LEFT exit)to 84-90-290-495-95---shorter and lil less hassel than dealing w/Boston---up to you

Appreciate the info fellows. Once I get to 95 from HP, I can put my truck on auto-pilot to Boston and points north. They did call and asked if I'd be there at 05:00 so I'll go in Saturday evening before it gets dark. Been a long time since I been in there and don't wan't to go in in the dark not being able to see land marks that I may remember in the past daylight operations.

I was supposed to be headed for home time in Texas and they figured this out and had pulled that preplan off of me ... for about 2 hours ... then bounced it back to me. I guess they couldn't find anyone who wanted it. Doesn't bother me, hunts point on the weekend is about as easy NYC as you can get, and the miles are good, but would have rather been in Texas at home for a few days
