Congrats, and thank you for posting. It does the heart good to see there is still a lot of pride and professionalism out there.
pattyj and FORESTGUMP Thank this. -
I get a bonus every clean inspection the trucks get, which is most of the time - this is because I save the money not to fix things that they find.
It is like my bi-annual inspection, they are done to find things wrong to make sure that the driver isn't missing something by having that different pair of eyes looking things over so when it does get a roadside inspection, there is very little that they can find. -

My answer to the OP is because I have a job I enjoy, (most of the time) with a company that treats its drivers well. I've invested 25 yrs in my career and I intend to retire from this job with this company (soon?). I don't intend to give any of my hard earned cash to the DOT or Smokey Bear. nor any more than absolutely necessary to truck stop restaurants or their fast food joints! I'm proud of what I've accomplished during my career and still proud to be a trucker. As to whether trucking is a job or lifestyle, I feel its a lifestyle b/c most of my time is spent on the road doing what I have to do. I rest when the HOS say I must, or whatever the load dictates. I live in the truck 3 weeks a month. I speak the trucker lingo when I'm home w/out even thinking and the family understands what I'm saying. Yes, I swing wide for right turns in my 4 and if I see a red light ahead I get off the gas and coast way before I have to in my car. Trucking has been a large part of my life as well as my families and we don't regret beginning this career Aug 18, 1989.Last edited: Aug 11, 2014
Heysunshine Thanks this. -
Due to a couple new idiots that the company hired without properly checking their history and ending firing I've had 3 level 3's and a level 1 all clean in the last 3 months . zero bonus but helps the score I guess .. Its surprising how fast a 25truck company can go from a great record to bad by hiring a bad apple or two
