buying a truck

Have not heard a lot of GOOD on the MBE.

 

i wont pay more then 20k for a truck like that.

 

Where are you located?

if you can run a 2003 or older truck I would.

 

Price is OK, considering details like tires, drive train condition, accessories working well, recent maintenance, among others. I always think that getting a maintenance report on any vehicle is good, factual information. A reputable seller will help you, will disclose anything you ask. One thing, Dante, if it was a fleet truck in a former existence, that's bad. Fleets have longer, much longer, intervals between PM's. A Schneider driver told me 75,000 miles between oil, filters, lube, and systems check. That's much too long. I know other fleets that run their trucks 40,000 miles routinely between PM services. I/C, O/O, usually run 10K - 15K between PM services, and care about who's doing those services. The warranty people want no more than 15K between, so that tells you something. Due diligence, research, that's your money and your future. Best.

 

Hi dante, I guess the price is about right, although somebody ran that truck kinda hard (with 700K in 5 years) I don't have any experience with those engines. I've always been old school, Cat, Cummins, Detroit. Get a pre-emission if you can.

 

Hit and miss on the Benz motor, you either have a good one or a bad one. Either way they are a bit gutless. If you want a Freighty I'd stick to a Detroit.

the MBE is pretty gutless and if you run mountains or hills or anything, the engine brake is pretty worthless. Like holding a sheet of paper out the window to help slow you down. Parts availability is always going to be an issue and that seems like a tall price for 700k miles.
