Just got here in Travelodge and it's pretty clean as hell and I get my own room non smoking w 1 king size bed! Woot! Orientation is 10 miles away from here so I should get some good breakfast early in the morning then head down there. Orientation will be 0800 thru 1700.

I heard they serve good BBQ for lunch in GA for orientation? Please keep me posted on the food. The Fort Worth yard sometimes has a descent lunch.

I took my 4wheeler from home which is 3hrs away. I recommend you guys to bring truck into Orientation so they can install Qualcomm into your truck. Reason I didn't bring it out because I couldn't get it registered due to that it was my first truck and didn't have insurance, but now I got it through Landstar so I can go home tomorrow then have truck registered it on Thursday morning.

They had catering from Sonny's BBQ Monday thru Thursday. It wasn't bad but way better than truck stop foods! :)

    Aug 12, 2014 (Class is 8am-12pm, 12-1300 lunch, 1300 thru 1700)

Here I goes show up at the Orientation this morning at 07:30am. I'll just make simple list what we did today.

    1. They teach us how to booked the load through loadboard. You have to call/email Agents every load you want to book the load from loadboard. There's no button where you click the board that it is your. ** You do have to call/email Agent that who posted the board on there.

    2. Went through all safety and stuffs.

    3. Direct deposits. I kinda didn't like the way they offer it. Landstar does not provide straight direct deposit through your banking account. They give you 2 Comdata card which is fuel card + settlement card(which is debit card that you get money deposit into). So what I've told is that you have money in your comdata card then have to direct deposit from Comdata to your banking account w charge of $1.75. (Need some advice of those of Landstar driver how this work please, thank you)

    4. You have to purchased trailer locks which is requirement price is between ($128) which they took out from settlement every week.

    5. I got my QUALCOMM unit so I'll take it to shop near my house and have them installed since I didn't bring my truck in. Landstar will pay for the installation.

    6. They teach you how to manage the money by save fuel, gross income, and stuffs

    7. You get your DOT/Landstar stickers, permits, and if you used their plate, they provide you 45days temporary paper.

I can't think of what I missing but that's pretty much it.

I nee some LANDSTAR OG CREW help correct what I've listed. Thank you!

One more day then I can't wait to get on the road!!!!!!

One more thing I've listed about my insurance expense. Man..this is ridiculous since I lived in NC.

    $175/month for Physical Damage
$86/week for Workers Compensation= NC is required to have it! <------ I do not like it at all. $344/mo
    $19.45 month for liability
    $24/month for towing

So if I add this up, it will be like 562.45 ?? WTF.. Is there someone who can help me see if I can get cheaper quote for this. Landstar told me I can get it from outside policy but I gotta show proof of it.

I just use one Comdata card for everything, I don't need the complication of two. Get paid on Wed, dd as soon asit hits the card and it's in my BofA account the next day. It's not hard.
Did you think there was a book it now button? Why?
You can get your own WC policy, but I'm betting LS is way cheaper. Liability is weekly, BTW.
